VLTOR E Mod stock

Sorry guys a place holder for when I get some time and pics

I ran one on the recent LL course – I had gotten away from VLTOR stocks in the last bit – I used one in Afghan in '04 and went over to the Crane and then CTR due to the rubber butpad kept it on my gear easier while moving etc.

The stock is a much better type of plastic than previous VLTOR version - and the rubber butplate is superb.
Grant also showed his little fix for lube – and has two little vials of Machine gun lube from Larue Tactical in the small rear flip down door – a great way to keep some lube always on the gun.

As well the but gives the CR123 and AA storage from previous models.

I currently have one on my 14.5 Hk416 (I ran it on the 10.5 416 and 11.5 SR16 for the class) - I have a few guns that still have Colt stocks on them – and I will get getting some more E Mod’s in the future.

Pics and better review later.

The Emod is my new Fav.

For some reason, I just like my LMT stocks better (feel, size, etc.) Maybe I just need some more quality time with my E-Mods.

Looking forward to your review.

I’ve had a E-MOD on my 3gun rifle since it first became available (it had a CTR previously), the E-MOD on a 5pos VLTOR tube at click 3 is perfect for me (great balance of weight with a 16" upper. I prefer it too the CTR on a 16" gun. On shorter guns like 10-11.5" the CTRs feel better.

My camera seems to have crapped out - but I will sort it out and show the different angles of the different stocks.

I just moved from the old-style Vltor stock to the CTR, mostly because it (and the standard M4 stock) would hang up in my gear and clothes (if shooting in tshirt w/pocket…I am left handed). The toe of the Vltor and standard stock drops right into that shirt pocket and hangs up. The toe has also caught on the sling itself when transitioning strong>support shoulder shooting.

I had a chance to try the CTR at a class and was hooked.

How do you compare the new EMODSTOCK and the CTR?

Tim I was a CTR and Sopmod user and now im all about the EMOD. If you want to meet me at the range you can try one of mine out.

I’m not about to dump the CTR off my small guns - as I think it is the heat for small SBR’s - I’ve never really liked the Crane stock and the LMT version is not an exception (well its butpad does not fall off). So not sure why I liked the E Mod all of a sudden – however it feels very solid.

I stopped putting batteries in my stocks when my carbine tipped 12lbs in Afghan…

In the pic I put up (my camera seems to have decided to shit the bed) - I have the lower from my 14.5 Hk416 on the 10.5 and vice versa.

I’m going to see if HH6 will lend me here camera this week and let me get some pics.

Will the EMOD stand up to the UBR?..That is the question.

I have been using a Vltor EMod stock on a 16" mid-length since they first came out.

Length and weight are perfect for balancing a 16" gun, especially a mid-length.

The extra length is optimal for keeping my face on the stock and taking advantage of the improved cheek well that the battery compartments provide.

The rubber buttpad and the narrower foot print feel much better in the shoulder. I have noted that the EMod is approximately 1/2" taller than the SOPMOD and feels better in the shoulder (to me), especially if the gun is a little muzzle heavy.

As others have already noted, one size does not fit all. The right stock on the right gun can assist with the overall balance of the gun.

Kevin, I hope you don’t mind me adding a couple pics.

Jeff, Thanks for the pics – my camera crapped out while down and the LAV LL class and have not had a chance to get it repaired then my baggage issues with the GF’s camera…

Versus the older version

Kevin,

I'd like to see some more pics of that M4. Looks good!!!

Hope you don't mind a few pics.

Some indoor pics (still working on my camera-fu):

Very nice.

Mine recently arrived. Great stock- built TOUGH. I have a Trijicon Accupoint on a LaRue SPR-E mount and the EMod is better for that than the CTR.

Lockup could be a bit tighter (it’s on a Vltor tube) but overall I’m impressed. If I had to have one stock, this would be it.

I have searched and tried to find his post or a photo of this but I haven’t had any luck. Can anyone provide some more information about what type of vials he uses? I would like to do the same thing with the Slip 2K EWL I use but I didn’t know if he just got the machine gunner’s lube in little vials or if he got some little vials and filled them with lube. Thanks!

You can get MG lube in the tiny vials.

I have them on my “precision” guns. Very well suited for that role, but I still prefer the CTR for my other carbines.

The EMOD is a lot of stock, and I wouldn’t recommend it for a lightweight carbine. If your carbine is front heavy then it is a good choice.

Who has the best price on a Emod complete kit? Also need a few other things so hopefully will be able to get everything at once.

I agree with the comments made about the VLTOR E Mod being a bit heavy. I run one on my midlength and have a good amount of front-end weight on it, and the E Mod balances it perfectly–I can definitely see how using it on a shorty or a very streamlined, light rig could make it too back-heavy. I tend to run my rifle a little heavy–I cut my teeth on heavier rifles like the M1, M1A, and K98, so I still have a difficult time with a light rifle, and E Mod complements that perfectly for me.
