Looking at buying a complete Vltor VRA-A AR15 lower receiver. For a Daniel Defence upper rcvr W/14.5 WOA barrel,VTAC 13" Alpha Rail upper. Would this upper work with the Vltor lower? The Huge mag release button is my main concern.

I don’t have one, but I would bet that you are GTG. Vltor just has proprietary parts and design in their lower. Everything else should be in spec to accept a proper upper.
Why are you worried about their mag release button?
It’s a feature that doesn’t add very much (although I like it) but takes nothing away.

i’ve got a vltor lower and love it. the larger mag release, as stated above, doesnt impede the functionality of the weapon. if anything it makes it easier to access when wearing gloves. in my opinion, you cant go wrong with it.

You won’t be disappointed. They’re good lowers. I have gotten used to the mag button so it’s no big deal to me but everyone that has picked up my rifle for the first time likes the oversized button.

Yeah I was thinking of a VLTOR lower aswell and was wondering if GTG aswell.Some info here and there but not a TON of it on them for what little web time that I can get with crazy job and everything.(a little on the high $ide)
Still for what I have read nothing HORRIBLE has been said about them and seem pretty much GTG except for the BIG mag release button that may or may not be the greatest thing.dunno…I would’nt be able to judge one untill in my hand and shooting it for awhile…
Kinda agree though that it doesnt seem to “take away from anything” so why not?
Right now with things being like they are I would think finding a VLTOR lower would be like finding a vein of silver…or gold.
They are most definitely GTG. I am currently building a 3 gun rifle with matching VLTOR upper and lowers. The quality of these two parts are exceptional. Mags drop free, so no worries with the huge button.
I am documenting the build on the YT channel if you want to see what they look like.

Just need to find the MUR A1 upper (w/assist) to mate with it which I might be screwed for some time to come untill available again…
(anyone know where to find a mur upper (w/assist) in stock?)

I’ll be looking forward to the VLTOR set-up but have to admit that I’ll always be a Colt ‘fanboy’ forever and my go to gun will always be my Colt LE6920 !!RESTRICTED!!< just had to throw that in there just for fun w/all the sh*t thats going down>I know and love my 6920 but I also have no problems or doubts using my old school Colt A2 sporter as back up either if SHTF as it has served me well for over 18 years w/o fail!!!

I have order my Vltor lower and hope to see it soon.
Now I just trying to figure out which buffer system to go with;
The stock carbine buffer tube and a H2/H3 buffer & spring/magpul ACS-L stock or
Vltor A5 buffer spring system or
Magpul MOE fixed rifle stock and rifle buffer/spring?
I will use the rifle for service rifle matches and want to have a good solid cheek weld & reliability.

what gas system are you running? mid or carbine? i hear the standard vltor a5 system has some hiccups with a midlength gas system on a 14.5 barrel. by all means correct me if im wrong but that might be something to look into. i believe the fix is as simple as changing out a buffer

I’ll be using the A5 aswell while running the shorter carbine gas system for better reliability since I’m wanting to build more of a ‘fighting’ weapon than anything else…
I like heavy bbl’s and cheese graters and already have a Colt SOCOM 14.5 bbl w/permed C5 Phantom thats been taking up space anyway so that’s a done deal. Will add a DD lite rail cheese grater and either a EMOD or UBR stock to help balance out the weapon.
It’s just finding the MUR-1A upper w/assist that’s going to be the fun part with all of the chaos thats been going on latley!
I’ll let you know if my dealer gets any back in stock.
