Video review: Manticore Arms NightBrake

Summary: On par with the AK74 compensator in taming muzzle climb in a smaller/lighter package.

Great informative video. Thanks! would love to see a comparison between these brakes and the new BattleComp AK Brake.

Well done comparison video, thank you.

Minor correction in terminology, a flash hider is a cone-shaped device intended to “hide” the flash from the shooter so as not adversely affect night vision. They are commonly seen on WWI and WWII firearms.

Ex.:

A flash suppressor is designed to actually reduce the blast signature.

Is there a consensus on this, yet?

That cone will actually reduce the flash, not just conceal it. The non-beercan type russian krink muzzle device has a cone at the end, and much to my surprise, suppresses flash nicely.

I have one the Manticore FS on an SLG 21 and I really dig it. I also despise MB.

The AK BC vs. the Manticore Arms brake isn’t really apples to apples.

The 7.62 AK BC only comes in M14 x 1.0 LH. The Manticore is M24 x1.5 RH.

You could use the same rifle with M14 threads and use a M14 to M24 adapter nut. Not sure why’d you do that though?

The Dynacomp to Manticore arms would be a better comparison.

If you have M14 threads then I wouldn’t be looking at the Manticore…

I’m always happy to do more vids. I don’t have plans to buy any of the above muzzle attachments. More than welcome to send me one , I’ll do more comparisons, and return it. I don’t have any more access stock 16" AK’s with M14x1LH threads though. Just the above Arsenal which is M24.

Manticore is coming out M14x1LH in a few weeks. It’s already on the website.

Ah I see. Please do ignore my previous statement  That makes sense.

Exactly. This is straight up apples to apples except in price. I want to know where to spend my money. If the AKBC is able to get 1 more bullet on target in a 30 round mag…I’ll pass. If it is a LOT better, well, I will pay for that performance.

Throw in the FSC47 in that comparison as well. AFAIK Rifle Dynamics is the sole retailer for the AK BC. It’s listed at $199. FSC47 is $99. NightBrake is $57.95.

Well, I went with the nightbrake. I don’t think the performance difference justifies the $150 in cost, after seeing numerous videos of them.
