Vickers Sling: Metal or Nylon Tab Slider?

I have always used Vickers slings with the nylon hardware and am wondering if the metal slider hardware slide better or holds better or… or is nylon the way to go ??? Anyone with experience with both? Opinions

Nylon won’t clang around and make noise. They both slide and hold the same.

The VCAS was a good sling in its day, I still have several but honestly it is a dated design. Check out the Ferro Slingster if you a sling that holds and doesn’t loosen.

I emphatically prefer the nylon.

I’ve had the nylon buckles break on V-Tac slings before, so I always prefer metal.

What caused the break(s) and what temperature(s)?

Good question. I’ve had the sling for over a decade at this point, but the breaks happened relatively early on when I was active duty. Could have been in Africa, or could have been in a cold ass KS winter at Riley. Or a combination of the two and the general wear and tear of infantry use on equipment. Thankfully, it wasn’t the main slider that broke (which on mine is metal) but the square buckles that are nylon. I taped them up, and called it a day. Still works in that configuration.
