Since people have been asking me how to install a Vickers sling on an AK, I thought I’d share some pics.
The rifle is an Arsenal Inc. SLR-106FR, the stock folds to the left side of the receiver and the sling swivel is on the right side of the rifle when the stock is extended. The rear swivel position seems a little awkward at first, but it actually isn’t too bad once you’ve got some trigger time with it.
I sacrificed a cheap AK sling for the D ring and snap attachment point, otherwise you can use a HK snap attachment for the front swivel, but the angle is a little “off” when using the HK set up.

Front swivel area; notice the D ring attachment:
Rear swivel. I took off one of the plastic Fastex keepers for the rear, which then allows the sling to lay over the wrist of the stock when you have the rifle mounted to the shoulder.:
I don’t know who to blame for my growing addiction to the darkside: Templar, Thekatar or VA_Dinger!
VCAS Cobra version, custom order (Ranger green with mash hook permanently sewn in).
Excuse my poor quality cellphone photos; The nicer pics will be up with the ever growing data for my upcoming range report. Still waiting for RecRoom access…
I am still screwing around with this thing (I’ve never been good at puzzles) trying to figure out the best way to use it - this may or may not work. It is actually wrapped around the barrel in this pic then up between the HG’s. The rifle hangs well like this, but I’m sure the coating on the wire will fry from the heat. I experimented with wrapping it around the gas tube as well. I guess I need to go try it out.
Ok, I made it to the range today and assessed the viability of the above arrangement - it is good to go. Ak-105 pattern rifle hung just how it is supposed to and dropped down and out on a transition like it is supposed to. Got the front end/barrel decently hot with strings of controlled pairs and checked under the HG’s later - no melting of the coating on the BFG sling wire loop.
