Im curious if anyone has any knowledge of a VFG for the vtac extreme forend that bolts directly in place. It seems that if the purpose of attaching a rail to the forend would be to bolt a VFG in place that we could stand to skip one of those steps (the rail) and bolt the VFG directly on the forend.
I’m still waiting for magpuls vfg ment for their moe forends to see if that may be a possibility…

I’d like to see that, or a handstop like Gear Sector’s that mates directly to the tube, or a Magpul AFG that bolts up directly to it.
the problem is that all the various tubes are slightly different radii and so it’s hard to expect a maker to decide to make a product that only works on one tube. Even asking Troy to make one is probably a stretch.
Ironically I was thinking about the exact same thing last night. The Magpul MVG may work but there’s no telling until its released. I can’t think of anything else thats currently available that wouldn’t be custom made. Definitely worth a look for both the Troy and VTAC versions.

I’m not sure if the MVG mounts with screws or if those are screw slots I pointed out. Regardless, a VFG that mounted directly to the Battlerail would be nice.
I was thinking a flashlight mount could work in a similar fashion.
Both with some sort of QD cup hookup like the AR Performance sling mount.
my battle rail has not arrived yet, so i can not measure that, but the slot on the bottom of the moe grips is 5mm w x 28.8mm long. Anyone measure a battlerail?
now that I look at it closer it doesn’t look like two screws will work on the MVG…I think there’s only one in the center and the two tabs keep it from rotating. Anyone know for sure how it mounts to the MOE handguards?
Each of the slots on the VTAC version are approximately 6mm x 38mm, so it should work fine. I’m hoping the screw goes up through the bottom of the MVG and engages a threaded plate so it can be installed without removing the rail from the rifle.
I’m gonna go out on a limb and suggest that the attachment method may be similar to how the moe rails attach…
