I’m considering buying a .223 Vepr and cutting the barrel down to either 14" or 14.5" inches, for weight reduction and handiness. I do have one concern - with a shorter 1/9 twist barrel, am I precluding myself from using 75 grain bullets. I know that most times a 16" 1/9 will stabilize them, but what about a 14"?
A knowledgeble poster on ARFcom said that it will stabilize regular 75 grain bullets, but not ballistic tip or all copper. Given that I don’t intend to shoot those, I’m good to go.
