VEPR 12 Ejecting magazines with high-brass loads

I have a brand-new Vepr12 with the folding stock. With high-brass loads, (buckshot/slugs/turkey) the thing ejects the magazine…forcefully.

I’ve got a 10 and 12 round SGM Tactical, and the manufacturer’s original 5-round, all do it.

Anyone have one of these or heard of this issue? I cannot find anyone online that’s posted about the same problem. Usually it’s “I can’t cycle walmart stuff” or something similar.

Fit and function seem fine, the top cover does not interfere with anything. The mag catch seems kind of beveled where I would not think it should be, but that looks like a regular thing. I can take some pics…hm.

i had the same problem with sgm 12 rounders…you might have to do a little filing…here is a few links on how to help fix that problem…

Does yours do it with the factory mag as well? The first 100rd I put through this none of them forcefully ejected…but now even the factory mag does it.

The factory mags hold together real well…i havent had a problem with them as of yet…only the aftermarket ones are giving me problems… If you look at one of the links i posted …it shows that molot had two different types of factory mags that they imported from russia…one has a groove that the magazune latch catches into and the other does not…my factory mags dont have that extra groove…but it still seems to work fine…some veprs that came with these mags without the groove have problems automatically ejecting themselve…you might have to do a little filing on your mags for this not to happen anymore…

My factory mag does not have the groove. I called the importer and the guy I spoke with said it is a somewhat common issue…apparently the mag catch can sometimes be drilled in the wrong place. He offered a repair at their expense or an exchange.

that would probably be your best route
