Venom had all the right parts to make a solid movie in the genre, but having the ingredients to a good meal does not = a good meal once it’s all thrown into the pot. Venom’s ingredients just never mesh to make it the movie it could be. Some good visuals and a few one liners, but nothing memorable, and the symbiote deciding to be a traitor to his entire race cuz they’re both losers in their respective race was lame. Sort of reminded me of Spawn, minus the cool dark adult parts. Venom is about as formulaic as it gets. B-/C+
I would love to see a Spawn remake, but they would never do it justice. Thanks for the Venom review, I guess I’ll check it out when it gets to Netflix or something… maybe.
This movie was rated PG-13 and it felt like. Spawn was R, as it should be. You can’t make a movie about a creature that eats people and swears like a sailor, etc and do it as PG-13. He bites people’s heads off but there’s no blood, etc. I never read Venom but my understanding is, like Spawn, mature content and dark.
BTW, and here’s your remake:
Venom was awesome. It had this kind of a Taxi Driver feel to it.
It was a feel-good underdog tale of a man and his symbiote.
Comparing that movie with Taxi Driver should be a felony ![]()
I agree. Taxi Driver was about a creepy and socially awkward dweeb.
Venom was about a man and his symbiote eating an Elon Musk and slapping each other five on the white hand side
LOL! Those are about the most perfectly accurate one-line movie summaries I’ve ever read!
