Vegas, Vacation, Watches, SHOT, etc.

Here is a pictorial of our trip to Vegas last week for the SHOT show. It is just some of the highlights.

Omega Aqua Terra (Skyfall) on its third time on a plane, departing ATL on AirTran 737:

Got to our room at the Mirage. It’s the first time in four visits to the Mirage that we were able to get the room early and with view of the Strip. Previous years, we had to wait until the normal 3pm check in time to get the room. I guess I’m finally somebody

We then took a walk south on Las Vegas Blvd. looking for a new place to eat. We chose the Café at the Bellagio. The Café was located at the conservatory. This year the conservatory featured the year of the Horse of the Asian lunar new year. All of the displays were made of flowers.

The Omega Boutique at the Bellagio:

Full stomach and we continue our sightseeing adventure south. We spotted this pair on their crotch rocket. Look closely, the guy closer to the camera was showing off his open carry, in a $10 Bagmaster holster. He was giving me an evil eye for taking his picture.

At the Coca Cola store and a real live 7 foot tall polar bear.

Later that night, we split a pastrami/corned beef combo sandwich and fries. The whole thing was enough to feed a Somalian village.

Day 1 of shot (day two of trip)

Huge Dodge truck with Ma Deuce on top.

Colt customized by Jason Burton for Larry Vickers:

Ken Hackathorn at the Tango Down booth, he wears a Submariner by Rolex:

20 ounce bone in ribeye steak and mash potato at the Voodoo Steakhouse on the 50th floor of the Rio hotel/casino. The steak was awesome and the view was spectacular.

Day 2 of SHOT (day 3 of trip):

Morning view of our hotel and the lagoon where the volcano goes off hourly from 5pm to 11pm.

Glock sponsored shooters. Michelle Viscuzi and Tori Nonaka. Daddy gave me the evil look.

Day 3 of SHOT (fourth day of trip):

More new year celebration at the junction between the Venetian and the Palazzo hotels.

They were discussing stripped lower (AR that is)

Personally, I don’t see the big whoopy doo.

Finally more watch :). This was a 1969 vintage Rolex Submariner with the red letters. It is for sale at the Tourneau watch store at the Caesar Forum Shops. The biggest watch store in the world, three floors of high end watches.

The 69 Sub was $11000.

Breitling boutique at the Forum Shop:

Mike Benedict of Talon Tactical (wearing a Submariner also) boarding to go home.

Good pictorial.

While I am not a Rolex fan, that Red Sub is really nice, I enjoy the vintage models and cannot stomach the new crap.

Looks like a good time was had by all. Thanks for sharing Sam.

i see that you ordered a salad to go with your steak. i’m amazed how disciplined you are; eating healthy on a trip!

You are very observant brother  A healthy, well balanced meal is a must. Missed seeing you at the show. I bumped into Iraqguns at the buffet in the Mirage though. I guess that was the unofficial m4C moderators get together. hehe.

Sam. It was good seeing you at SHOT. Looking forward to seeing what 2014 brings…

Looks like a fun trip. Thanks for the ride along.

Sam, you sure seem to get a lot of evil looks! Hahahaha.

So while we were back here toiling in the salt mines, you were staring at stripped … lowers.

so sweet…dig the band, but a bracelet must have been OE

You’re such a watch whore / stalker…thanks for sharing

Enjoyed the pics Sam. Looks like you had a fine time.

I hope to get out to Vegas one day.

Hey Bob:

I asked the salesman what happened to the original bracelet, he said they received the watch without it. The owner brought it in with several scratches on it. Tourneau’s watch makers polished the case and removed most of the scratches. I looked at it very closely and saw some that they couldn’t remove. Their watch makers also serviced the entire watch.

They also had a “root beer” GMT Master which I’ve never seen in real life until then, a regular Pepsi GMT Master and a 71 Sub.

BTW, I’m not a stalker.

For about 12 seconds, I thought that my father had gotten me a Rolex for Christmas. No. No, he didn’t.

I know enough about certain watches to know that the second hand doesn’t tick. He’d gotten me a Faux-lex from off the streets of Medellin, Colombia…just to see the look on my face when I opened it.

Well-played, Father, well-played. When the time comes for me to put you and Mom away, enjoy your separate homes… :jester:

I’d hoped for a 3-day jaunt out west, this year, but it just wasn’t in the cards. Hope everybody who went enjoyed themselves!

Wonder what you need to do to get “frisked”…

I hate you. Seriously, thanx for making us who could not attend (almost) feel like we’re there. Enjoy!

Years ago while on a snowmobiling trip to Hurley WI, I was frisked by one very similar to that the night of my 21st birthday.

BTW Sam, thanks for the pics.

Except it was a dude, but otherwise, yes, very similar.

Other than than the creepy watch stalker guy roaming around, that looked like a pretty good time!

Thanks for the pics.

Dang! A red letter in the flesh! My wife would kill me, I’ll settle for my homage.

Sorry for not calling buddy. I was only there for 5 hours and the day got away from me. Need to spend more time there next year.
