What mounts are you guys using to attach the VCAS to your shotgun with factory buttstock? Will one of the ‘strap on’ buttstocks work? What about on the front end? :help:
Thanks!

I use a Wilson or Scattergun magazine extension with a built in sling loop up front. Out back, I tried the strap mount and found that it didn’t work well with a buttcuff for me. I ended up adding a sling loop to the left side of the buttstock. I’ve seen them attached to the top of the buttstock as well.
Good luck.
I use a Wilson/Scattergun +1 extension with the built in sling mount up front. For the rear, I used a Grov Tec socket that I drill the right rear of the stock for then threaded the hole with the socket and put a large washer and “C” clip on it. I then “finished” the outside of the hole with some Steel Bed to match the grip cap on the stock. I keeps the SBS at the same angle as my carbine and has worked well for me so far.
Ahh so most of you are going with custom rear setups huh. For the front with the extension, I already have the tactical which is 6+1, you can still add that to this one?
Mdain what did you not like about the buttcuff?
Thanks for the responses.
The straps for the sling mount and the straps for the buttcuff made for a bulky, uncomfortable mess. By hardmounting to the stock, everything gets cleaned up very nicely.
I was going to use the Grovetec sling cups, but I had a spare sling stud in the parts box. I may upgrade in the future. The QD feature would be nice.
You should be able to run a sling mount under your 6 plus one extension. Just get this mount http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=12521/psize=96/Product/SCATTERGUN-TECHNOLOGIES-REMINGTON-LEFT-SIDE-SLING-MOUNT and put it under the extension. That is what I am running on my 1100 Tactical for a front mount. The rear is the same as the 870 SBS.
Chris914,
Any chance you have photos of the rear QD setup? I have thought about doing this myself but I have no idea what I would be doing.
Thanks for any help.
I take it that mount will also work on an 870? You say the rear is the same, so you are just running the ‘butt wrap’ style? I see on the BCG site they have 2 different adapters for the stock, not sure which would work.
I use GG&G front sling mounts and fixed stock “strap” systems on my 870s and 1187. Works great for me (no buttcuff interference since I ditched those years ago).
Front mount is VCS extension
Rear mount is DD between receiver and hogue youth stock
On my 870 I use the Mesa Tactical magazine clamp with a QD sling swivel on the side and a Mesa Tactical Urbino stock with the slotted sling attachment. It works great and keeps the sling mounted to the left side not the bottom.
I’m not allowed to have an extension on my shotgun, so I picked up a beefy sling adapter from BFG’s site.
Sorry for the delay.
This is the sling attached.

Photo of the stock sans sling for location.

Photo of a close up showing the socket and the Steel Bed used to fill in around the openning.

Noveske makes a QD Adapterthat would have made this easier I think.
It looks like it would do a decent job.
Thanks Chris
How is it attached from the backside?
I like the custom projects here but for now I went ahead and did this setup. Also added a 6 shot saddle to it.
Sorry for the cell phone pic

I threaded the Grove-tech socket into the plastic and then put a fender washer that large enough to go over it on there. I did have to modify the washer to fit the curve and the lack of space. I cut off the top of it so it looks like a D with a hole in it. Then I added an “E” clip that I found at the Lowes that would fit close. I have not had any issues with it but I would like to actually add thin nut on it. The Noveske route looks like a better way to skin the cat though. If it had been available 2 years ago I would have used that.
