Variable Power or add the 3x?

I have a 14.5" carbine that i need optics for. The gun will be used for home defense and shooting out to 200m. I’ve narrowed down my choices to the Accupoint TR24g or the Aimpoint Micro w/ 3x magnifier. Can anyone help me decide? What are the pros and cons?

Out to 200m and home defense?

Aimpoint w/ 3x.

Im a true believer in the Triji TR24G. I feel just as comfortable with it for CQB distance work as I do with my Eotech XPS. I love the reticle, love the illumination, and I love the ability to dial it up to 4x for extended range shots. It a great scope. Trijicon nailed it.

I run mine in a 1.93" height LaRue LT-135 SPR mount. I really like the height it raise the scope to for CQB. Just be aware of the extended height over bore considerations @ CQB distances (about 3.10").

Nick, I’ve read nearly all your post on the TR24 and you have helped me to decide on it as the variable option. I’ve never owned a trijicon and am not very familiar with the fiberoptic system. I’m guessing it needs some ambient light to be visible, how visible would it be in a dark home in the middle of the night?

Also, does anyone know if either setup would be noticeably heavier?

The TR24G’s chevron is also tritium illuminated for low/no light conditions. I used mine at LAV’s carbine class recently (night shoot)and it performed superbly.

I agree totally with Nick…
