Valkyrie Tactical port covers: a disappointment

I recently purchased three ejection port covers from Valkyrie Tactical which were supposed to say “BREAK YO’SELF.” I thought they were funny and would add some humor to some builds. This particular phrase is no longer offered on their site, but they still have “GIT-R DONE” and “Thug Life.”

Unfortunately, the ejection port covers are a large disappointment and it looks like there was no quality control before these were sent to me.

The first, and most glaring issue, is that one of them isn’t fully assembled.

The second is that the lettering is not consistent amongst the covers, nor even amongst the letters themselves. One looks more like it says “EAK YO’SELF” with the B practically non-existent and the R only faintly visible.

Finally, while the VT site describes the lettering as “ghost,” it is far far lighter than it looks on the site. Under decent lighting, it completely washes out. The lettering is really only visible under very specific lighting conditions at certain angles.

VT’s site guarantees “total satisfaction” to their customers, so I inquired with them if they had any covers that were in better shape. Unfortunately, I have received no response to the emails that I have sent. I first raised the issues with them on May 9 (using the above photos), then I followed up on May 13. As of today, I have received no emails back. This is quite disappointing, not only because I was looking forward to using these, but because these were part of a $203.87 order.

Since I have received no response from VT, I tried to use the one cover of three that is actually intact and has the most even lettering. When the cover is installed on an upper though, it won’t actually click closed. I tried to locate contact points and dremel them down, but after a a lot of dremeling with no progress, I just gave up.

On a side note, I was charged a $16.42 sales tax on this order. I was under the impression that sales tax was only collected on internet sales when the vendor has a physical presence in the customer’s state. I live in MD while Valkyrie is in CA so I’m confused by this. Is this a separate tax? I can’t even figure out what value it came from:

Sub-Total: $177.50
Shipping: $9.95 (U.S.)

Sales Tax: $16.42

Valkyrie Tactical Total: $203.87

If the sales tax was derived before shipping, that would be 9.25070423%
… if after shipping that would be 8.75966925%

Those aren’t the kinds of decimals you usually see on sales tax

I agree - those look pretty sucky. I would not be satisfied at all. Hope you get it all worked out.

I pmed the VT guy on here over a month ago and he said he would get more "break yo self ones in a week. I have since Pmed him several times and he doesn’t respond. guess I’ll just have to take my buisness elsewhere.

Sorry to hear about your bad experiences!

I wonder how the wording is applied to the covers? It doesn’t appear to be etched.

Anyway, I have dealt with Jerry once or twice before, and all was well. I sent him an email to an address I have for him with a link to this thread. Hopefully, it will help you make contact, and get it sorted out.

Best of luck!

i’m sorry you received a defective ejection port cover. i am more than willing to accept returns and will refund anyone in full if they are not satisfied with their purchase. just send me a pm and we can work it out.

as stated in the item description, the laser etching is lightly etched - like a ghost image, so it doesn’t detract from the overall look of the rifle. i understand that other companies produce like items with very visible markings, these are not meant to be like those. our covers are made to be understated.

sorry, i’ve been in an overwhelming and hectic move of my office and home the last couple of weeks and haven’t had much of a chance to roam the forums lately. in fact, i just got internet back 2 days ago.

hi byron, i can only apologize for the lack of service on my part. i’ve been in a hectic move of both my home and office the last few weeks and have not had the chance to attend to my daily business duties until today. i have sent you a pm to recitfy this situation.

also, sales tax has been mistakenly charged to out of california sales due to a flaw in my shopping cart’s programing. that has since been solved. anyone that has encountered a similar charge, please pm me and i’ll make it right.

Thanks, PM reply sent

Good!

I hope you guys can get it all worked out!

Jerry hooked me up and I just received his skull mag release buttons I ordered – they are sweet!

i hope they work out for you!

Anyone have a number for these guys? They have no number listed on their website anywhere, they are not listed in the yellow pages and they are not responding to e-mails again. Thanks in advance

go ahead and PM me your order number and question. i’ve been away from the office and have been playing catch up. sorry for the delay.

Jerry is a great guy and has always been straight up with me. I will continue to order things from him. Thanks Jerry

The saying is “Brake Yo’self” like as in put on the brakes in a car.

what in the hell is a “tactical port cover”?

What an odd way to resurrect a thread that is over a year old.
