VA Disability Claim Times...

On Oct 20th 2012 I EAS’d and filed my VA disability claim. I was told that it would take 9-18 months to receive a finding on my claim. Today, not even 3 months after, I received a letter with my findings, and also 2 months of backpay. Has anyone ever seen the VA move this quickly? Could this signify a turning point in the VA?

Mine took 3-4 months, but I was medically retired, so I assume that’s why mine was so fast.

Fully Developed Claims or Fastclaims do go through that quickly but any standard type increase or additional claim for existing VA disability beneficiaries takes a looong time. Nevada is in the shitter and ranked #6 from being the worst in terms of length of time your claim gets processed.

Also, depending on where you file your claim makes a huge difference in the amount awarded and the time it takes to receive your benefits. New Mexico is at the top of the list in terms of money received per veteran on average.

This interactive map and data on this page is pretty cool. Close the “Waiting for help” page and the map’s behind it, data is below. http://www.thedailybeast.com/newsweek/2012/08/29/interactive-map-tracking-wait-time-for-veterans-disability-claims.html

And if you were denied for any of your claims or need help on any of the VA stuff I’m pretty well versed in all that schtuff if you want some help.

I got rated for “concussion residuals” after I got out. That claim only took a few months before everything went through.

I recently went back for some related issues and they rediagnosed me to have TBI. I’ve been waiting on the new rating for about a year now.

I’m on 3+ years of VA fuck up’s for mine! Have two other buddy’s at the 5 year point. Apparently being shot in the chest, is not considered a line of duty injury:D
