Hey guys, I was wondering if you could recommend a few thigh rig set-ups for the full sized HK USP. I really don’t want to spend over $100, if that’s possible. I really enjoy the Serpa holster and was wondering if this set up would work?
Serpa has received many neg reviews, to be honest I try not to set much a price limit when it comes to gear, because your going to get what you pay for. I would look into safariland as far as thigh rigs and duty holsters they are the standard to me awesome gear but a bit pricy, but you will only need to buy one.
One question: Why would you be willing to spend primo of a top tier pistol but wont pay for the supporting equipment?
Before the serpa was notorious for NDs many Marines I knew had one for a M9 nobody had issues with them. That being said yes there are way better options but there are also worse.
I would Recommend Eagle’s G-Code line of holsters. The offer an RTI feature that is very Modular. Now, I’m no gunslinger nor I’m I high-speed in anyway, but I would rather keep my pistol high and tight. The beauty of the RTI system is you can set up multiple receivers/plates on different gear, and then move the Holster to the gear very quickly. You can also run paddle and belt slide attachments. Hell I think they even have some sort of Molle attachment.
natchezss.com is offer the holsters for as low as $9.00. That is for a true kydex holster not injection molded plastic. I have several of their holsters and they are top quality.
While the Safariland is cool, I have fallen for the G-Code.
I’ll be ordering the Kydex G-Code holster with drop leg platform from https://www.tacticalholsters.com
I decided to go non-RTI in order to save some money. While I realize it’s a nice feature, I don’t see myself having the need to swap out combinations on the fly.
Total come out to be $86. I’ll try to place my order before this weekend because I heard it takes around 1 month :shout:
I had a Serpa on a drop leg platform. Not even getting into the holster itself, the drop leg sucked. Sucked, big, giant, hairy cock and balls. The bitch would wander just from walking around, and running with that bitch? Forget it, the butt of your pistol would run to your ass or smack you in the balls, or run back and forth and do both. We cranked the bitches up high and even then it was less then 100% secure. On a drop leg I have since gone to Safariland ALS with a weapon mounted light fo rmy glock and a slick on for my TRP. Using the Safariland the rig stays put and the holster is very damn good. Will be replacing my duty holster with an ALS soon as well. Will add this, if you shop around you may be able to find ALS holsters priced right, I think I paid about $45 for my ALS holsters, both plain finish, and put another $40-50 into the platform to mount it to run them as drop legs.
I was mostly referring to the build quality of Derpa’s being crap. I think the Derpa line is made from out of spec rejected plastic from the Thermold plant.
I have an Eagle that was made for the USP. Only used a few times. If you are interested, I’ll find it and post a few pictures. I got rid of the USP, and it’s too big for a M1911.
