USGI Magazine Questions

I came across a bunch of USGI Mags for a good price, so I bought them all - all 40. They are mostly Okay and Center brands. They all are used but none of them looked abused, I didn’t find a single dented one, feed lips look good, they just have a few scuffs and scratches.

My wife was gone so I took them apart and put them in the dishwasher. They came out really clean. I’m going to install MagPul Followers.

Here are my questions:
#1- Two of the mags have bottom plates with the stamping: Sanchez Ent., Mansfield, OH, USA. They are pretty worn but have the slickest finish and a unique tint to them. Are the Sanchez mags still available and are they gtg?

#2 - Almost all of the mags have copperish tinted springs. I assume these are Chome Silicone springs, is that correct?

#3 - Do CS springs need to be oiled or after their cleaning, can they just be reinstalled? For my handgun mags, I take a oiled patch and wipe the mag springs down to keep them from rusting, I was just wondering about these AR springs.

#4 - Lastly a couple of the Center mag’s springs had a dull silver finish, are these SS springs?

That’s it.
Thanks!

Do the Sanchez mags have green followers?

==================
Yes, they have the previous issue green followers.

.

All of my sanchez mags have a bronze tint to them. They had black followers and worked fine, but I now replaced them with Magpul followers and they are flawless.

I’d read that Sanchez had problems before switching to green followers. Regardless, they will be fine if you swap in Magpul followers.

If they aren’t rusted then they’re probably not CS. USGI mags don’t come with that CS crap in them. I think I have several USGI mags with various colored springs in them.

strong, slightly rusted spring > weak one

New USGI stainless > Anything else

It’s not like SS replacement springs are expensive or rare. No reason not to run the correct spring.

I’ve seen some nasty pics of that “slight” rust posted here.

Hope you got a good deal… GI mags work great and have been killing people for years ;)… in my opinion…don’t worry about the magpul follower unless you got money burning a hole… green anti-tilt follower works just fine…

About the Sanchez, they’re good if they have a green follower, I had a few with the black follower and sometimes the 29th round took a nosedive if I remember correctly… work great with the green.

I wouldn’t worry too much about rust, finish, etc… but INSPECT THE FEEDLIPS… check the back of the the mag body, up top toward the feedlips, for cracks, and make sure that none of feedlips bend out progressively towards the chamber. i’ve had an almost invisible to the naked eye bend in the feedlips cause malfunctions… (bent about 1mm down)

If none of them work… or don’t pass inspection… do not try to fix them just throw them away or mark them and use them for training.
