Hey guys,
I bought my nephew, who is just getting into ARs, some ammo, a few PMAGS and a rifle case for Christmas. The rifle case has Molle webbing on the outside and inside. He loves the coyote brown colored gear so i ordered it in Coyote brown. My question is what is a good source for used Molle gear. i know the Marines use Coyote gear so there has to be some used Military issue pouches out there. I have checked ebay and a couple other places I know of but was looking for more places. I would appreciate any help. He does not need top of the line gear like HSGI, ATS, Tactical Tailor etc but I don’t want to buy him airsoft crap either.
I need a couple mag pouches for both pistol and carbine, a 1st aid pouch(an accessory pouch or SAW pouch would be fine), an Admin pouch and possibly a shotgun shell pouch. If anyone knows of any places please reply. Thanks a lot
The EE on this site has tons of used coyote Molle everything on the very cheap.
I picked up about 10 TT and eagle pouches of different sizes and types, all brand new for around $50 a few monthes ago. What I didn’t have an initial use for I’ve made into small diaper/wipe pouches for my wife to throw in her purse and glove box.
Skd has good prices in new stuff as well. But for best value, lurk the equipment exchange for what you want. Especially with a lot of people getting off active duty latley.
If its dirty don’t throw it in the washer and dryer!!!
Warm water in the tub with some woolite, scrub it up, and hang dry. Most of the time it will look and smell new.
Honestly, you both will probably be best served with Condor stuff from uscav.com. Last night when I was browsing they had all of that stuff for around $10 or $12 in coyote. Condor gear may not last through a deployment on some ground pounder’s kit, but their pouches aren’t trash either. For some ammo and misc pouches to throw on a weapon case, it’ll work great. I’ve had some of their stuff for years that I put through some pretty hard use in my high school paintballing days. And at those prices you can get him a solid assortment for very minimal cost. Now anything that’s going to cost some money anyways (packs, jackets, chest rigs, all that stuff) I wouldn’t buy.
If you don’t mind spending the extra money though, for weapon cases or packs that have MOLLE webbing, I love the BFG Ten Speed stuff with Helium Whisper. Super lightweight, low profile pouches and mounting systems that really multiply the bag’s versatility without adding awkward bulk. For example, I have a 5.11 double rifle case. Last time I went shooting I only took one long gun so I lined the opposite side of the interior with mag pouches so they were nice and neat. Even with just one magazine, the Condor double mag pouches I mentioned were much too bulky and caused awkward bulges when shutting the case and pressing against my Noveske. I’ve since invested in a little of the BFG stuff and am much happier. The setup is actually pretty bad-ass since that bag has so much webbing. I like options.
Take your time and keep searching the EE for “used” stuff. I think my entire kit is secondhand, I just waited until top tier stuff became available. Got most of it for less than 1/2 of new, I mean the good stuff like Endom, Blue Force Gear, Tactical Tailor, TAG, ATS, Safariland etc. So all the colors don’t match and some of it needed a bath or has somebody elses name on it but so what, it works. To each his own but if your in no hurry it’s out there.
Not trying to hi jack but I’m also in the market for some molle gear, was looking at the 5.11 line of stuff. I was just curious what this EE stuff a couple of you mentioned is? Is this stuff better than the 5.11? Thanks.
5.11 is hit-or-miss prospect at best. There are better options at the price point, especially the used suggestions.
I bought some sight-unseen when their MOLLE gear was new - ~ 5 years ago. Huge mistake - the AR magazine pouches should have been aborted in the womb, fundamentally the worst I have ever seen and inferior to the sorriest NCStar crap at anytime. In the same lot, the flashbang pouch was OK and the drop pouch was just shy of paper thin, but usable. For an operation that rips other peoples’ designs and concepts, their QC is abyssmal.
As a comparison, it ranks below the handful of Uncle Mike’s and Condor MOLLE items I have. 5.11 is bargin basement. Never pay retail, for even 50% of retail.
The one thing going for 5.11 is that stores stock it. For that reason, at least take the time to buy it off the rack after you inspected it.
I guess I didn’t explain it in my first post like I thought, buy I hate 5.11 and don’t recommend it at all for anything - except their bags. I have 3 that I absolutely love. I was going to get some cheap MOLLE pouches to throw on one (no need for hard use stuff) but their prices were almost the same as good pouches. I also think Condor’s are better, especially when you compare prices.
at times trying a “cheap” condor pouch may work I used some of them and they did work through a deployment(s), I’d love to had some other top name gear but the sold out can change the plan. But some times “Wranglers” will have to do… not Levis;) then He or She can see if that type works for them and replace with better as needed…looking at my Duty Bag I use daily it has "Spec-Ops, 5.11, I have Condor pouches on plate carrier low usage IE: I don’t wear every shift… any others out there remember the “good old days” ALICE gear:sarcastic: It wasn’t the best but all that was allowed and you better not try to have more and/ or place where it worked better.
You can always check your local military bases bookoo site it’s like military Craigslist and people are always selling extra gear they have laying around.
You want the best gear for the best price? TYR Tactical hands down. Outstanding prices and by far the highest quality gear I have used and seen. TAG used to be my go to followed by a few others but a member on here turned me to TYR and I havn’t looked back yet. Used try E&E on here and other forums, even airsoft forums because a lot of those guys to me seem to have endless money and buy the shit we drool over.
