Has anybody ever put a used BCG in a new upper? The BCG is in very good shape w/ less than 500 rounds fired.
Is it a good idea? The reason I ask is a member on here selling uppers discouraged me from doing it.
Have a reputable person check the headspacing. If it checks good, you are good to go.
A BCG with 500 rounds is barely broken in. Using it with a new barrel should not be a problem at all…assuming that all the parts are built to spec.
Trouble with headspacing usually only occurs with very old and work parts…usually…there is always the issue of out of spec parts.
Having the headspace checked by gunsmith should take less than a minute and would assure that things will work properly together.
My understanding is that you want to avoid repeatedly switching bolts between guns, as the bolts will wear somewhat to conform to the chamber. I don’t see any issue with swapping a low round count bolt into a new upper, but I’ll defer to anyone with more armorer experience.
My thought as well. 500 is nothing.
