Saw an ad for this on the back of a gun rag, curious as to it’s makeup and whether or not it get’s a pass from those that know. Seems like a steal for something I could have by the nightstand, on the off chance that I have enough time. It also appears to be designed in such a fashion that would make donning it a simple and quick operation.
I bought one of the defender vests and some armor for the back. Its really easy and fast to put on and mine holds three AR mags and a pistol mag. When O get a little money I will probably buy a plate carrier as well.
I know this thread is about the US Palm Defender. I highly suggest taking a look at what bulletproofme.com offers.
The Defender looks like a plate carrier with just a plate backer in it.
I dont think the Defender is a plate carrier. I dont think you could fit a plate in there. At least not a rifle rated ceramic plate. They do make a plate carrier with plates for 400 though.
OP. If you decide to buy this remember that 199 only gets you front armor. rear armor is another hundred bucks.
The coverage is very small if you are tall however may be reasonable if you are short. US Palm is one of the many manufacturers of vests that have this problem.
It does depend on the size of the plate. This vest along with many others leaves a tall persons lower abdomen and pelvis exposed even if one chooses the extra large size.
With soft armor that is the norm. If a vest is cut long enough to cover my abdomen, let alone my pelvis, I wouldn’t be able to sit down at all while wearing my gun belt.
