US Palm AK Battle grip

Installed one on my Maadi yesterday, very nice indeed. Just like the Tango Down pistol grip on the AR 15. The brown color I got goes well with the wood furniture.

I have to say, this is my favorite accessory for the AK. Better trigger finger placement, higher in web of hand, the flatside enables me to direct muzzle one handed while climbing. This grip and an extended safety TOTALLY change the ergonomics of ak varients.

Stoner was spot on when he used this evolved grip type (as compared to the ar15) on the AR180 and Stoner63, TangoDown/US Palm brilliant in their evolutionary execution.

You should try the US Palm/TangoDown M4 grip. I believe it is perfect.

My AKs are all getting the US Palm grip after running one on my SLG21 for awhile now. A little deck tape on the front and backstraps so as to give a more positive purchase and you have the “best” AK grip yet devised. It’s nice to have the storage compartment as well if you feel the need.

I love TD stuff. I bought one of these and put it on my underfolder before my last shooting trip. Now that I’ve put rounds downrange with it, I’m going to swap it back for a traditional-pattern, US-made AK grip. The US Palm/TD grip is very well made, but I just don’t care for the shape. It just doesn’t fit my hand well. Which is odd, since I have a TD grip on my primary AR and love it. I was very surprised to find that I didn’t like the AK grip, but that’s that, I suppose. I certainly can’t complain about the quality of the grip.

The US Palm AK grip is really nice. I like it better than the Ergo AK grip and will add a US Palm grip to my Arsenal 106 soon.
I’m hoping we can start stocking their excellent AK mags as well.

I really want to try one.

Excellent?

I broke mine almost immediately.

I agree it is the best AK grip on the market today. It is a huge improvement over the original grip which I find way to thin.

I’m pretty happy with my Hogue but would still like to try one of these.

I too found the US Palm grip to be a big improvement over the stock AK grip. Haven’t tried other aftermarket grips, so I can’t compare to those.

How does it compare to the Hogue, would it be a better choice for those with larger hands?

There isn’t a magazine made for an AR15 or AK47 that I can’t ‘break’ in just a minute (with a hammer). But I digress…

Care to elaborate?

If you are familiar with the BG-16 Tangodown Grip for the AR, the U.S. Palm AK grip is the same size and shape as the larger BG-17 TD Grip (TD actually makes it). I don’t have the largest hands in the world and always found the standard AR grip too damn small. I T&E’d a rifle a couple of years that had the BG-16 TD Grip installed and found it to be an improvement over the factory grip but thought it could be bigger. The BG-17 grip fits the hand very well and blends nicely with the trigger guard, either the standard piece or the Magpul guard. I have the BG-17 on my Recce rifle and the AKBG grip on my SGL-21. I am verry satisfied with both.

Sure. It’s been around the forums a bit. One mag lasted maybe 1-2 range sessions prior to me bending up the rear locking lug so that when the rifle was fired it fell out of the magwell. Nothing crazy; just dynamically dropping to prone which my Eastern-block and Bulgarian magazines have held up to with no problems. The problem is that the rear locking lug is metal-lined (very thin metal) as opposed to being fully metal.

The other magazine had shattered feed lips after only a few emergency reload drills over gravel (my go-to range has bays filled with it–other magazines haven’t had such a problem)

In both cases, no bueno.

There’s a big difference between, ‘regular use’ and hitting them with a hammer

FYI: I’m up to (4) US Palm mags broken. Notable that I’ve now owned four of them…

BTT, anyone have a problem with a folding stock AK and the US Palm grip as far as reinforcement plates are concerned?

Very interesting Dave. What rifle are you using? I have noticed that some AKs have tighter mag catches. Norinco/Polytech Chinese guns for example are firm and smoother where some others like cheap Century WASR-10s have tight rough receivers and mag catches with bad fits.

Love the US Palm AK grip.

I will never use their mags. No real reason too with them running as much or more than Bulgy Circle 10’s.

While I have a variety of AKM’s my main trainer is a milled Arsenal.
