would appreciate some bright sunlight pics of the reticule with illum on at min and max magnification.
Dave @ US Optics put specs up.

Im thinking about this for my Mk12 build. Fits my needs better than the Nightforce 2.5-10. I like the idea of 1x for cqb needs, over losing 2x at the top end. I wont be shooting past 600, so 8x is more than enough for me.
Can’t believe nobody else commented on this…![]()
25.6 oz. without a mount?
Hard to believe the juice is worth the squeeze if that weight is true.
I think a 2.5-10x NF with an offset t1 is a better choice.
You get higher end magnification, a quicker change to 1x, a red dot with daylight visibility / battery life measured in years / no worry about eye box for the most part, and it’ll be lighter and probably cheaper than the 1-8x USO.
I have only used iron sights but this set up that Koshinn is talking about is what i am thinking about using also.Looks like it would be easier and quicker to roll the ar to 1:00 for using the t-1 and back to the scope for longer distance. But the 3 gun guys seem to like the 1-6 scope better and they should know what works best.
It helps keep the gun on target. ![]()
My cousin told me the sig556 was the nicest 5.56 gun on the market. Mind you, he owns a scar 16, an lwrc, a psa, and works at a gun shop. I asked him why he had this opinion and he said because there was almost no recoil. I told him the reason was the ridiculous weight. He agreed. So I told him to zip tie a 5 lb. weight to his PSA’s rail and call it a day lol.
The reason the 3 gunners like the 1-6 optics is that using two optics puts you in a different class (open, I believe) that if you only use 1 optic.

Isn’t the push button illumination programable so that you can set it to jump from say illumination setting 3 to 8(or whatever) with one press?
Or am I interpreting that particular piece of marketing wrong?
Correct. I shoot open and Tac optics. That said I would prefer a 1-6,8 and a off set red dot for use on stages with transitions from close to far targets with no time to use the cat tail no the scope. I have a rifle set up with a 2.5-10 Nightforce and a off set R1 Aimpoint. The system works but I prefer a 1x scope on top too. The reason being you get more of a field of view in the scope than the off set red dot and it allows me to shoot faster.
This helps me understand there set up now. I was looking threw a lot of optics at a gun show this weekend and i did notice the scopes seem to have a wider view than the red dot sight. And i had a terrible headache at the end of the day.![]()
Interesting reading this… I have never had any FOV issues with an aimpoint micro in the standard position with both eyes open. My ‘brain’ just ‘sees’ the red dot in a normal field of view. I guess it is completely different when the micro is offset to the right and the main scope is blocking the field of view normally appreciated by the left eye.
Thanks for bringing this up, as I have been contemplating the merits of a future 1-6/8x vs. a 2.5-10x plus an offset micro myself.
If the micro is slow in an offset position because of the obstructed FOV, then maybe saving up longer for the 1-6/8x is a good idea.
I shoot 2 eyes open but the optic itself blocks some of your field of view and when your shooting 2 optics the main optic also blocks a portion of your field of view. I have shot drills where the targets where shoulder to shoulder in a row at 5 yards (5 USPSA targets) and I was faster with the Swaro on 1x because the field of view on 1x is huge and I could tell which target I was on as I transition. With the red dot I got lost was slower and got some misses.

The obvious.

NF Unimount

USO SN-3 3.2x17

Great pictures, do you think you could show a picture of the USO SR8 next to the CQBSS? Also, does the USO single point mount seem fairly sturdy to you? Thanks.
It’s in the queue. Probably next week some time. Just slammed w/ training, teaching, too many builds & projects.
Standby.
Yes the mount is sturdy but I would not go ANY longer or heavier optic as it would be pushing the envelope & feel comfortable w/ it RTZ etc.
Too bad US Optics doesnt do upgrades, Id send my DFP 1.5-6x back with some extra cash for a DFP 1-8x…
Indeed, I hear ya.
I’m kinda in same boat. Want to try the SR-8C version & U can’t upgrade or retrofit. I’m told the C stands for Competition by Dave at USO. So the outer Ret is FFP & Illum Dot is SFP. I knew the Shit & Bendover techs were Finger Fookin it for it’s MoJo for 45 mins for a reason.
