Does that mean the Marines are flattering the Canadians? They had the pattern first.
i thought the Navy corpman wear the marine corps marpat. Damn it… But still the us marine corps have the best combat uniform then the army. And doy ou guys know that Georgian Military got the same marpat like the us marines they they have velcro patch on their sleeve and they wear black boots and army style cover with black boots.
After all Marpat is the best uniform. Which adopted from the Canadian with a bit different design. ![]()
Canadians dont count. ![]()
Yeah, God forbid a sailor looks like one. Instead of a mall ninja.
Here are some better looking working uniforms, instead of the shit the Navy ended up with.
South Africa

Germany

Canada

I have to say I would be ashamed to be seen in today’s uniforms.
Not to be a dick, well maybe a bit, you capitalize Marpat but not Marine? Bad form. Marines always get caps.
In reference to this Naval abomination of unifroms I just received an e-mail tonite in reference to the “dress khaki” being rolled out. I have friends in the Army that have 3 uniforms, total. I currently have khakis, tropical whites, dress whites, dress blues, the new aquaflage, the horrid PT uniform, and woodland BDU’s. And I’m a reservist! It’s beyond stupid.
Corpsman and Chaplins rate to wear Marine uniform when attached to the Marines. So everyone looks uniformed, they still wear navy rank, but on Marine Corps uniform. And thanks for mentioning the capitalization of Marines. I’m not one to be very anal about the military and proper form, but that is one of my pet peeves. In one of Dick Couch’s books about Navy Seals he repeatedly failed to do so. Other wise is book was great.
Yes, the men’s department!
(sorry I had to, my Son a Marine told me that one)
I believe the Marine Corps say a good idea and made it better… yeah I’m full of shit, but I just couldn’t leave that unanswered. ![]()
Glad to see that TF Uniform had nothing better to do then make more unnecessary uniforms.
Just wait until you come back from mobilization and have ACU in your kit too! Havent got the aquaflage yet and probably wont since my unit wears the old school DCU’s.
Navy SEAL
And the old dungarees were cool
Although I did wear cammies on the flight deck, a lot cooler in the Gulf.
What? Dude, that was painful to read…
All services deserve to be capitalized.
What this facination with the USMC uniform is, I’ve no idea. Its not unlike the MEU-SOC 1911’s, big deal.
FWIW, I do not think the USMC uniform is the way to go. While the ACU, may not be the answer, the universal uniform idea, is.
As for the Navy, sorry, but, as stated, I think less uniforma, that are easier to maintain, is agood thing.
Bob
Thanks for filling in the blanks for me, Alpha Sierra. ![]()
I still haven’t asked, or commented, but my silence can be contained no longer:
What, in the name of the Holiest-of-Holies, is that Navy “camouflage” supposed to blend with?
Why doesn’t the Navy just issue a fuckin’ “Bulkhead Grey” version of the ACUs and get on with it?
I can never understand why the USMC is so protective of their camo patterns when we are all supposed to be fighting on the same side.
IMHO, field and combat uniforms should be the same or similar between all services so that (a) We have the most effective pattern possible; and (b) We can more easily tell friend from foe.
I’ll support differences in Dress Uniforms - that should be the way things are. I think it’s great that you can tell who is from what branch on a parade field.
But if I were to discover the most effective camo pattern; I’d not only want to share it with those who I will call upon to back me up, I’d insist on it.
JM2CW.
ADDED: I also find it ironic that the USMC is bitching about the Navy “copying” their camo pattern and yet, they rely on the Navy (their parent branch) to provide them with Corpsmen. WTF?
CarlosD, there’s parts of the Corps that take uniforms and appearance way, way ,WAY too seriously. Example: the Commandant not allowing folks to fill up their gas tanks off base in cammies. A 1stSgt calling the NCOs of 3/1 during the Second Battle of Fallujah “cowards” for not making sure everybody had fresh haircuts.
The moronic “one haircut a week” rule.
Dude, the military needs to accept “modified grooming standards” across the board.
GMAFB.
That sounds like something straight outta “The Onion”.
My guess is it’s a recruiting tool. ![]()
I don’t get that either. All of the digital patterns from Cadpat, Marpat (except for the eagle, globe and anchor), and ACUs, are all the same pattern, except for the colors being used. At one point when I was on active duty, and for a very long time, we all wore BDUs.
I have several former Marines as friends and have worked with them in the past on several occasions, so I can only attribute all that “dime clenching” uptightness, to the Corps culture. It’s a way of life. It’s quite comical when you witness an “episode” unfold before your eyes, but I’ve seen it in the Army as well, but not to the severity and degree.
Wow! I can’t fathom a 1SG making a comment like that of fellow Marines in combat. It’s sad to see that 1SGs and CSMs stick to that Admin Garrison BS even in a combat zones. I’ve seen truck loads of anal Army 1SG’s and CSMs in my time that had no clue about combat operations, but were masters at fucking with their Soldiers. They are to blame for the overwhelming majority of the problems associated training and screwing over good hard charging junior Enlisted, just to make a point of who had the power.
