US mil bases no longer gun free zones

"Off-duty service members may soon be able to carry privately owned firearms on U.S. military bases under a new order issued Thursday by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.

The directive tells installation commanders to presume approval when troops request permission to carry a privately- owned firearm for personal protection on base, reversing policies that largely limited personal weapons to law enforcement or training. The move follows a string of shootings on military installations and raises questions about enforcement, safety and how armed personnel will operate alongside existing security forces."

Well they’ve treated military personnel like 5 year-olds by not allowing it so I’d say it’s about fvcking time! Someone does something stupid with their privately-owned weapon? Crucify ‘em. The rest don’t need to pay for the possible misuse by one person.

Wonder how this will translate to non-military or retired folks being allowed to CCW on base?

Former, retired, and civilian employees are expressing the desire to get on the special privelege train.

Not many are advocating for a non-infringed 2A though.
