Upgrade of the CAV-15

Well I want to upgrade my Middy to make it as reliable as possible.

I have mags PMAGS and USGI so that is good.

I was thinking of adding a 9mm or H2 Buffer a Wollf or ISMI Carbine Spring and a BCM Extractor Spring Upgrade Kit.

So would this be a good upgrade for the rifle?

Also check the staking on the gas key and receiver extension and restake if necessary.

ffhounddog, don’t look too hard for that RE. ;)

I don’t get it. Are you having cycling problems now?

AFAIK, the heavier buffers may cause short-cycling. The mid-length was designed to solve the reliability problems of the carbine-length gas system, so you shouldn’t need a heavier buffer or upgraded extractor.

Just leave it alone,

Ben

What is RE?

receiver extension.

the first reply suggested that you stake the nut at the receiver extension. CAV arms receivers don’t have that…

so, disregard that suggestion.

Ahh, Oopps! My bad, reading to fast! Saw the Middy and not the Cav-15. Standard response.

Do check the carrier key staking though!

My Middy runs well with an H2, but would probably be fine with an H buffer. I have the BCM extractor upgrade but run it without the O-Ring on, as it put what seemed like too much tension on the extractor. As the extractor spring wears, I’ll add the O-ring if necessary.

Sorry if I confused you!

I wouldn’t put any of that stuff in your gun, Son.
