Updates/changes to the LM308MWS

I have a call into LMT, but I figured while waiting until Tuesday for a return call, I’d ask here in case anyone was kind enough to reply with an answer in the meantime instead of “Call LMT.”

I have a low s/n LM308MWS, and understand that the bolt carrier was upgraded (as per an older thread here). I recently read where the mag release button was also upgraded. Is this right? Have there been any other changes? Lastly, I noticed that the model number is now LM308MWSE…does anyone know what the “E” represents?

Thanks,
Pete

While I have not first hand knowledge with a new production mws, I have been keeping up with what people post on the forums. FWIW, I have an early mws as well without all of these upgrades and changes present now.

What I remember at the moment:
New style upper that is forged, I believe the older were machined billet

In the very beginning a new style carrier was introduced with 2 cuts on the under side to allow aftermarket triggers(this is the carrier I have). I have since seen a third style carrier with the large vent hole behind the 3 little ones moved much closer to the 3 little ones. Sorry for the bad explanation, but that’s all I could come up with.

A new style bolt with dual ejectors has been introduced, but I don’t know if they are in all new mws’s.

.308 barrels now come profiled to accept reflex suppressor mounts.

As far as mag release button, I haven’t seen that myself, but I wouldn’t doubt it.

I don’t know if all these changes really matter, but it will be interesting to see if the originals become some kind of collectibles being close to the model issued to the brits.

Thanks, Junkie, much appreciated.
