United: most epic internet roast since Harambe

Okay since another thread was locked I’m starting this one about the AFTERMATH and the PR fallout. Please keep pissing contests out of this humor based thread.

“Drag and drop” . . .

On my phone but I love the

“Drag me outside how bow dah” meme and “AIRLINES HATE HIM. See how this doctor turned $800 to $8 Million*”

*even though our esteemed airline peers state he will not receive a “pittance”. I think they’ve severely misunderstood how much this thing has blown up (I.e. This thread)

Dude the interwebz have been on fire! I haven’t laughed this much in a long time.

That’s some funny stuff!

Not quite comedy, but look, here’s how United abuses people who don’t push things til they get arrested:

This plus the Gizmodo article I posted (in the now-locked main thread) seem to show that UA treating paying customers worse than dirt is not one isolated incident.

Bad things happen. You have tens of thousands of employees in a tense, time sensitive environment and things will go wrong. UA screwed up with the tone deaf first response that just played into perceptions of airlines. I fully supported UA with the ‘leggings’ issue, but this was too much.

I’ve flown UA over 100k miles every year for the last five years. Being here in CO it was a logical thing to do because I also go overseas. The PR issue is that after this, I feel embarrassed to say I’m a UA FF. It makes me sound like an idiot or a co-dependent beaten wife. If I had choices, I’d fly someone else. I know I’d never get treated like this, but that contempt of customers is a real issue from the top of UA. Sismeck was bad, Munoz was supposed to fix it. Time to take a knee and spend time due to health issues with your family.

UA has really treated their higher level FF with a lot of disdain- calling them ‘over entitled’. I’ve told them in the surveys that they had better fix it because these times of a flush economy and high load factors will eventually end and then they will be begging for business fliers. I didn’t see it happening this way.

Kimmel’s is still the best video.

Something tells me Warren Buffett wishes he’d listened to the advice of… Warren Buffett on investing in airlines. What’s that old saying? “How do you make a million dollars? Start with a billion and invest in an airline.”

Darth Vader one killed me

And the really scary thing is that United is not the worst carrier for the number of involuntary bumps!

Since the Dao episode is so much in the news right now we may see other reports similar to the LA Times story you posted.

I’ll bet that they’re all looking at their bumping polices pretty closely right now. It strikes me that this whole Dao episode has really touched a nerve in the frequent-flyer community.

Interesting to compare that analysis with this one:

Those numbers are disingenuous, they include situations where everyone was denied boarding due to flight cancelation.

Jet Blue and Virgin has a “do not over book” policy.

Me too.
