Thought I would throw this out there, as I dont see much NVG stuff here.

I just got a gen 3 pvs 14. I would like to present some photos of different materials in night/nvg light settings. I have displayed 6 sets of my uniforms. My set of Desert marpat was washed for 8 months by the locals in Africa. My Analog BDU’s were my field pair and received at least 2-3 heavy soakings in staflo starch to make them crease. My grey under armor and tan cargo pants are my go to work pants and shirt, as well as my go to shooting gear. They have been washed in with every load. My multicam has only been washed in the recommended detergent. The woodland marpat were both washed in recommended detergent. One set is over 2 years old (the faded set) and the other is new issue with one wash. I wanted to observe how they differed under NVG/ect. Here are the pics. They will be posted in one other forum.

Nicely done. That mimics a series of pics I did for an article over 18 months ago. Though I did them with fewer patterns - just M/C, woodland & UCP - and at somewhat shorter distances.
At the time, I really liked the way the M/C ghosted out and was not happy with how the UCP appeared. Interesting to see the differences in the MARPats.

Some of my other stuff. A gortex parka and my not so waterproof lighter weight jacket. Both fleeces and my fleece watch cap.
Pack are Piper gear bugout bag from the px, kelty MAP 3500 in tan, standard alice, and my war bag from boot. Now doesnt that bring back memories.
The Fleeces are both from colombia. Green and tan, from the local sporting goods place. The watch cap was from somewhere on line and is a copy of the USMC one. The Gortex is the newest version of ECWES (spelling) and has some serious use on it (love that jacket, hate the color - Tan would be ideal, or a subdued greenish. Then I wouldnt stand out walking into work). The other jacket is a no name (OP?) snowboarding jacket with a removable fleece liner. The hood does not hide away and it still make a lot of noise when worn. I will be moving to a softshell down the road and a set of multicam gortex some year.

Since you have the woods nearby how about some pics from there? Also if you have a desert like area nearby that would be neat.

Dont have ANY acu stuff. I have Marpat and personal multicam. ACU is in MY opinion a waste. I dislike the zipper, pattern and other things. My neighbor has a ACU poncho liner, I may see if I can borrow that. Now that I think about it, I may have some German Desert stuff boxed up from trading with them…

About other patterns-
As night vision works by amplifying the visible and near IR spectrum and converting it into a green image the pattern of the material is less important than the reflectivity of the fabric.
Example- GoreTex jackets exhibit much more visibility than BDU jackets, even though the pattern is identical.
Should all the fabric be of identical manufacture, cleanliness, and chemical treatments, then the pattern will make a difference, but really only when in the environment that it is supposed to be camouflage for.
Example- Starched BDUs stand-out more than non-starched BDUs, and clothing treated with color brightners stand out more than dirty clothing.
Other example- In a uniform color background such as low desert, a plain garment will be less noticable than one with a pattern, but the patterned garment will hide better in a busy background, such as the jungle, than the plain garment will.
IR deadening coatings will also do more for reducing NOD visibility than pattern will.
I don’t mean to bust your balls or discredit your work, but the last post about checking an ACU poncho liner is what prompted me to post this. Comparing non-similar fabrics is more an evaluation of the fabric’s or chemical’s IR reflectivity than the camo pattern.
I dont think you are discrediting me at all. That is why you havent seen any pictures of poncho liners…
I am more interested in how decent material appears, I am sure that some uniform makers might not use Crye material or the same material in their Marpat as uniform makers do for USGI stuff.

ETA: can you give an example of an coating that will deaden IR? If commercialy avalible that would be interesting to play with.
Propper uses something in their fabric to deaden IR signature, you can check their page for some more info(oddly enough I checked them out after posting my earlier comments, there is a group buy going on).
ITW/Nexus uses something in their buckles that deadens their IR reflection.
Bowflage does a good job as well, but it doesn’t last vary long (the paint I mean). I will hit up (light spray) new gear with bowflage of similar color after rubbing it in dirt and hosing it off.
Military Moron did a good little piece on gear under IR. Scroll about 2/3 to 3/4 to the bottom for the article.
Some of my buddies use clear matte, but I think it is kind of a waste of effort.
As far as I know all Multicam is produced by Crye, in the USA. Check this out.
Check the tag inside your MARPATs for manufacturer, I bet you will be suprised.

Several manufacturers use IR ‘absorbant’ coatings in the manufacture process – its required by most contracts. (no idea what it is BTW). How ever you can both iron and wash it out permanently.
The make up of the fibre the material is made from will affect its IR emission/reflectivity.
The Iraqi and Afghani “poo” dust that gets impregnated into everything actually does a decent job of breakign up stuff under NV – however that a bit of a negative for us.

Through NVGs/NODs is about the only place ACU/UCP works, and works well.
