As M4C becomes more and more popular, we are going to get more and more members that don’t know what they don’t know and don’t know to stay in their lane.
Luckily, there are over active mods and staff that will correct the issue and keep a good balance.
To tack onto what Grant said; all the mods and staff here have jobs and some are deployed outside North America. We aren’t on the forum 24/7 so we ask that everyone follow the rules and when someone steps out of line it does help if someone reports it.
I can get emails on my Blackberry and if necessary log into the forum but I’m never far from my laptop so I can usually log on and clean up any issues within a reasonable time.
We’ve had a problem with this on FSN as well. Somebody from a Tampa ricer car forum turned all his teeny-bopper buddies on to the forum and they came flooding in. It’s to the point that if I see “Tampa” in the person’s profile I don’t even much bother responding to them.
I don’t know if I am one of “those guys” or not. Probably some here would categorize me that way and some not so much.
If I may interject an opinion, I’m not 100% comfortable with the deliberate stratification happening here. I don’t want to antagonize anyone, but the term “elitist” is what first came to my mind. I know some of my own perceptions are coloring assessment, but I feel the urge to be candid about this issue.
While I see the desire to have a set of forums where the less constructive contributions are minimized is certainly valid, some of the commentary directed toward those people and/or their messages is just as bad (in my opinion) as the objectionable comments made by those who are the objects of the criticism (and often pillory). It reminds me of people who actively hate and discriminate against people whom they label racists.
This set of forums is clearly private property and the owner(s) may operate it as he/she sees fit. Rules are what they are and I do my best to adhere to them, but I hope I can express my thoughts without undue reprisal.
