I just got back my approval from the ATF and the attached PDF file has the tax stamp on it, but each page is watermarked with the word DRAFT. Just wondering why and what that means? Is there a more formal document coming to me? Or is this just how it works?
Sounds like a mistake on their part. Mine doesn’t have a watermark on it.
It was sent to me as an attachment to the email notifying me my form had been approved. I am unable to log into the ATF site from work, so perhaps the “official” document is waiting for me on the ATF web site for download.
You need to send an email to nfa@atf.gov, with the subject line of “eForm DRAFT watermark”. Include the control number, serial number and licensee/applicant name.
They’ll reissue the form without any watermark. It’s a known defect, but they havent found all the causes, and they don’t go check them after approving them.
Nothing else is coming from them unless you ask to get this one corrected, which I highly recommend.
All four of my EForm 1s and my one EForm 4 had this happen.
(You could also use Ask The Experts, but email is the method they gave me. Plus, you said you couldn’t log in from work.)
Thank you sir, very much, for your kind attention to this question and prompt reply. I’m a babe in the woods on this stuff, but thanks for your excellent documentation here, I was able successfully to submit an eForm, via my Trust and have it approved. I consider that quite an accomplishment! Cheers.
Update: I called the ATF asking about this and about three hours later a very nice lady called me and informed me that she has forwarded my request for a “draft” free version of the paperwork to my examiner and I’ll have it by Friday. I’m also a bit surprised when I get good customer service from any government entity.
Sweet. I need to follow up on a form 4 myself…have the # handy?

Since the previous poster didn’t follow my suggestion, maybe you will. Don’t call. It’ll be more efficient to use the email procedure the ATF requests you use.
I have a form 4 waiting (9 mos ish) that I wanted to check, but also a denied form 1(paper error on my part) that I need to resubmit…just a courtesy call
Sorry…I incorrectly assumed you were following up on an F4 with the watermark. Which, if I’d thought about it, makes zero sense due to EForms not allowing F4s. :nono:
No sweat, I kinda jumped on in the middle

Same thing happened to me yesterday. Found an email
Not sure if it had any effect on my situation but two minutes after sending him an email I got another email with correct documents.
I am going to email Gary and see about my form 4, see what happens
FWIW…Gary is the Program Director and isn’t even in WV. He’s the one employee in the group still in DC. So, all he’s going to do is forward it on to somebody else.
You’d be better off emailing Kimberly Ramsburg or Ted Clutter.
Ok good info
But you know I’m going to ask if you have their email address.
I actually saved the email in my drafts, and I am waiting to check with the owner of the firearm and mentioning him I the email for reference.
Got the new form this afternoon. One day service. Nice.
If you just have a pending F4 you want an update on, just call the main line and ask.
