Don’t know if anyone has seen these yet, but they are coming soon.
Cold Hammer Forged Stainless barrels. Yup, that is right, Stainless CFH barrels. They also are coming out with stainless gas blocks to match these.
Sounds interesting?
MP/HP tested. 5.56 chamber. Look solid, so time and tests will see how they hold up. New v7 barrels, now umbrella. Looks like we are all of a sudden having some options for the stainless barrel market.
Looks like I need to get ready for a new build. Curious to see what the price point will be. As far as I know the only other company that has stainless chf barrels is DD right?
Interesting how they pin the gas block above the barrel and not below it. FN released a batch of CHF SS barrels a while back to PSA. My buddy picked one up. Shoots LIGHTS OUT on his precision rig.
I ordered one of their new BCGs as a spare a few days ago. These barrels are making me think it won’t be a spare for long. Umbrella stuff has a great reputation, so I can see myself getting one of these in the near future
DD did this for awhile, but doesn’t seem to do it anymore. MarkM speculated that this may cause the gas seal to be less than optimal, although I’m not so sure about that.
It is an interesting idea, in that it allows one to install a very low-profile rail like the Centurion CMR or MI Gen2 SS-Series/K-Series without worrying about if they’ll touch the gas block.
Considering they have not even come out yet, nor any huge details about it, no real way to know. We shall see if they do a warrety similar to v7 or not.
I have their receiver set for an SBR and just picked up their bcg.I was hoping there would be a 10.3-5 barrel but they said they diddnt have any plans for that at this time just in a cmv line.If these shoot as well as their products look and they eventually produce a SBR size barrel I’ll pick one up and sell my 10.3 dd barrel
They have great costumer service from my experiences so far
You’ll need to ask Wesker if he’s seen CHRIS! around lately. On a serious note I hear that this company actually has the logo from the video game series, did they need to pay Mikami-san a royalty for that?
From what I read on another site a ways back they held the US copyright on the name and Logo (as Umbrella Weapons Research Group or whatever) so either Capcom’s copyright didn’t extend to non-media related products and services, or Capcom simply never thought to copyright the name and logo in the US.
Considering the myriad of copyright types in the US and the sometimes quirky Japanese copyright laws, either seems completely plausible.
I must admit though that I wouldn’t mind having one of their lowers just from an old school RE fan standpoint.
