I’m torn - if it was a toss up, what would you go with
Based on my personal experience with Umarex, I would toss the Umarex. Guess that leaves the CMMG. That the only options here?
The Umarex is worth its weight in scrap metal, nothing more. I haven’t used the CMMG conversion kit, but why not spend a little bit more and get a S&W M&P-15/22?
Go with a conversion kit. Lets you train with a layout exactly identical to your fighting weapon, because it IS your primary weapon…
I’d do neither…
Buy or build a dedicated 22lr upper.
Seems like the Walther/Colt/Umarex has a following, are they as bad as they’re portrayed to be by some? Never shot one…
I have heard some bad things about the umarex, and in handling them, they are clearly pretty cheap.
I have. They feel cheap and tinny, the controls are loose and don’t work the same as a real AR (selector must be rotated 180 degrees to fire, bolt release doesn’t work), and it costs more than the S&W. Yes, the S&W is plastic, but so’s a Glock.
Where can I find out about your comments? I have not heard this about the gun.
I have one with over 5500 rounds thru it and would like to know what issues I can expect in the future.
two thumbs up for the S&W as a very satisfied owner with over 7000 rounds through one with only a hand full of misfires and FTF
Umarex/Colt owner here…it goes bang,is accurate enough for government work…and thats about all the nice things i have to say about it.
Honestly…get a quality upper reciever from Spikes or somebody and never look back.
I have mine setup with MBUS rear,CTR stock,KAC vert grip, Walther RDS,and plan to slap a BFG victory sling on it. It runs fine so far but the selctor sucks donkey balls…i dont know i think most guys would would be happier just going with a dedicated .22lr upper as the trigger pull is the same, etc.
