UK Special Forces in Ukraine

British troops were sent by London to the territory of Ukraine. At the moment, it is known that London has decided to send its elite special forces “Special Air Service” (“Special Air Service”) to Ukraine. Such data are provided by the British edition of The Times.

It is known that the British military arrived on the territory of Ukraine allegedly to train the Ukrainian military, however, experts pay attention to the fact that we are not talking about instructors, but about the active British military from the Special Air Service special unit.

Link?

Isn’t it common that SF-type forces are the ones sent to train people?

Every story I’ve seen begins with “Russia investigates claims SAS is in Ukraine.”

So currently, nothingburger.

  1. I would be surprised if they ever left.

  2. Good.

Yup.

Great Britain sent its troops to Ukraine.

British troops were sent by London to the territory of Ukraine. At the moment, it is known that London has decided to send its elite special forces “Special Air Service” (“Special Air Service”) to Ukraine. Such data are provided by the British edition of The Times.

It is known that the British military arrived on the territory of Ukraine allegedly to train the Ukrainian military, however, experts pay attention to the fact that we are not talking about instructors, but about the current British military from the Special Air Service special unit.

“Special Air Service troops trained local forces in Kyiv for the first time since the start of the war with Russia,” Ukrainian commanders told The Times. Officers of two battalions stationed in and around the capital said they had received military training from their service in the British Special Forces, one last week and the other the week before., - reports the publication “The Times”.

Where exactly the British military is deployed is still unknown, however, earlier the Russian side warned that the appearance of foreign troops in Ukraine is unacceptable and because of ignoring Russian requirements, the British military from the elite special forces could become a legitimate target for strikes.

The SAS ain’t the hearts-and-minds troops for FID, but they have had the mission. Trivially they just stood up a new unit (ranger) whose job is doing that very thing.

That’s said, I don’t know much about whether they have stayed behind, but I know that there are other Western nations who do have some special operations units who have remained behind and in country.

I have thought in Desert Storm and Operation Iraq Freedom 2. I retired in 2005 from the Army. I trained almost my whole Life to fight the Russian Army. With all the conflicts the US has been in that has had Russian military support it’s about time we return the favor !

however, earlier the Russian side warned that the appearance of foreign troops in Ukraine is unacceptable

Now, that is RICH…

Interesting that the British are rapidly taking the lead in supporting Ukraine. Between Boris Johnson’s high publicised visit, shipments of incredibly modern armored anti-air systems and armored vehicles, and training Ukrainian soldiers in the UK, they seem to be doing far more than just throwing weapons at the problem and prolonging the conflict. Good.

They are not the only ones, but I think they are most publicized.
