Two important pro gun bills pass the Texas legislature.

Local college and univ. Has been wanting to get it passed. Too many brainwashed 20 something years olds though…

Obviously I don’t. The only thing I see OC doing is having dumbasses do stupid things. Those dumbasses are a detriment to our cause.

OC are like leading with the tranny’s when we should be using our lipstick lesbians.

Having OC legal in areas doesn’t mean that dumbasses won’t make the call if they see one.

True, but when the cops do get there, they won’t have anything to arrest you for. If OC is legal, it can protect against … uh…“enthusiastic” police officers arresting for accidental printing.

You’re also being deliberately obtuse. If I am driving my car and stop somewhere and I have a loaded handgun on my seat, and someone sees it and calls the cops I cannot be arrested for it (which is the case now).

An officer also cannot stop and question you simply because you are open carrying a firearm. If you can’t understand why this is beneficial I cannot help.

What happens in TX could affect elsewhere, too. Precedents in other states DO affect yours.

I live in and am a proponent of the TX open carry and college carry bills for the simple fact that it’s going to make life much easier for me while fishing, traveling, bringing my kids to school, and just going about my business out in the rural areas of the Republic.

I’m not some big OC fan, and I’m totally against the moronic antics of the OCTX crowd and their carrying rifles around, but when I used to live in MT, AK, or visit rural areas of northern AZ, it was no big deal to stop for gas and a soda while OC’ing a pistol. Maybe times have changed…I don’t know. And as far as Campus Carry, it used to suck every time I went to move my kid in or out of a dorm to make sure I left the pistol in my truck.

It’s just more about reducing the “infringements” than anything else for me. YMMV

This is pretty much where I stand. As far as California hippies taking Texas over such as Colorado goes, I would have to say not even by a long shot.

It always bemuses me that when confronted with an opportunity to enhance liberty people choose to make excuses.

Yes, and just like in other states where OC is legal the police will come to understand that it is legal and there will no longer be SWAT callouts because a guy in a restaurant has a Glock on his hip. This typically leads to police informing frantic callers that unless the guy is engaged in some criminal activity or otherwise doing something very suspicious that open carry of a firearm is completely legal.

This eventually leads to the public at large coming to the realization that a firearm on the hip is not a crime.

You used the “gay analogy” so let me present this one. If “I” have to be tolerant of openly gay men in public, if I have to deal with homosexual content on nearly every HBO, Showtime, Starz series and if people want me to accept gay marriage and other things of that sort…then they need to start being TOLERANT of my rights and that includes accepting a firearm on my hip so long as I’m not engaged in any criminal activity.

Now OBVIOUSLY there are many times and many reasons when concealed carry is the way to go. But there are times when it is practical if not advantageous to come out of the closet.

BEING ARMED should not be a crime.

Some here are just figuring out I’m obtuse, inherently. Ok,ok I’ll say 10 Preambles and one Article 1 as penance.

I got Styer to say that he wants to come out of the closet sometimes…

Honestly that really is the angle we should be playing. Refusing to be shamed for exercising our civil rights.

Just need to think of a stupidly obnoxious chant for the evening news.

Since open carry will require a CHL, this fact alone will prevent many possible problems feared by all. I am ecstatic that I can relax and not obsess about printing when I carry or worry about the need to hide my weapon from nosy eyes peeking in my car window.
I will continue to conceal my pistol but now can use some of my OWB holsters and not fret if my slip is showing.

I’ve had my CHL for fourteen years now and have never worried about printing. Never had an issue with a EDC G19, they are not slim guns especially AIWB.

We’ve had OC here in Mississippi for a few years now. Its no big deal overall. You RARELY see someone doing it. The biggest impact seen are the mass of businesses trying to protect their a$$es by posting ‘no firearms allowed’ signs on the doors. My big thing on open carry (handgun) is to have some level of retention other than just friction retention and I am very vocal about that around here. And thankfully I haven’t witnessed any local idiots slinging a rifle.

I hope you’re right. Scary when we have such raging liberals as that idiot congresswoman from Houston Jackson-Lee and our little Marxist San Antonio moron Julian Castro getting elected.

Take Care,

Buzz

Don’t forget Austin’s police chief, Art Acevado, who came here from Kali.

If a CHL is required for OC, doesn’t that mean that if you are OCing that you can be asked to produce your CHL?

No, but 1) that doesn’t mean it won’t happen; and 2) that doesn’t mean that when it does happen the courts won’t twist things around to where if you are open carrying in a high crime area, then that is reasonable suspicion for a stop.

So you have to have a CHL to OC, but they can’t ask to see your CHL.

I’m back to this is a stupid law.

If a cop detects my CCW, he will ask to see my CHL. Who is the mental midget who passed a law that you can’t check? That is the Progressive school of gun laws. You either have OC for everyone or with a CHL AND the LEO can ask to see your CHL- this third way, if it is true, is a complete dumb-ass move.

It is only a matter of time before some trolling OCer is OCing in an inappropriate place looking to throw a pocket copy of the Constitution, the Magna Carta and the Gettysberg Address at any who says ‘what-cha-doing’- and things go wrong. Of course the OCer will have a body cam, a buddy cam and a drone overhead to record what will eventually be shown on every MSM outlet about how these gun nuts are all around you.

And yes, I said an inappropriate place to OC. LET ME CLARIFY. If the number of trees or fence posts out number people 1000:1, then you can OC. Bringing you kel-tec to Krispy creme or your Six shooter to Five-buddies Burgers in the burbs is a complete dumbass move…

If you are constantly be hassled for your CHL because you are OCing, you are doing it wrong.

Courts have already ruled in NUMEROUS cases that carrying a firearm openly in a state where open carry is allowed does not establish cause to stop someone.

See- St. John v. City of Alamogordo.

Northrup v. City of Toledo (just decided by 6th Circuit in a lawsuit case)

U.S. v. Black (4th Circuit Court)
