Ok , I have read so many threads about which is the best twist rate for the type of shooting I plan on and this forum has some of the best advice around so. I’am about to order a WOA 20" SDM -R Barrel. It comes in a 1:7 or a 1:8 twist rate . I really like to do alot of target shooting (200 yds. + ). Bullet weights will run about 55 to 62 grains. Which twist rate would be better overall?
Sounds like either would do the job.
If you know you’ll stick in that weight projectile the 1 in 8 might make a little more sense. The 1 in 7 might do a little better if you will go with longer/heavier projectiles, but I wouldn’t argue that either is better than the other.
You might find out the actual twist of each…
… is the 1 in 7 close to a 1in 8 and the 1 in 8 close to a 1 in 9? If so I’d get the 1 in 7
… if they are each close to the listed twist then I’d say you can’t go wrong either way.
