Picked up some 5.56MM ammo yesterday at my local gun shop. The 5.56MM is from American Tactical and was $15 for 30 rds. Not a bad buy considering current ammo availability. FWIW Privi Partisan is $13 for 20rds. The ammo is 62 gr. SS109/M855 type 5.56MM load. It passes the magnet test, so its has a steel penetrator in its core. The primers have 3 distinct crimps and are sealed with a green sealant. Headstamped MKE 09. American Tactical is American Tactical Imports. Phone 800-290-0065, WWW.AMERICANTACTICAL.US . This ammo is made in Turkey (NATO member) by Mechanical & Chemical Industries Inc. The box claims that the ammo is made to NATO specs and is Lot tested to assure less than one minute of angle @100 meters. I shot this stuff through my MSAR/AUG with a Aimpoint ML3, so I wasn’t able to do any accuracy testing. Had no stoppages and it seemed to shoot pretty clean. I thought I would just mention what I came across. Maybe this stuff might turn into the next PPU/Privi Partisan. If this stuff is as good as it seems, stock up now while its affordable and unknown, before word gets out.
I’ve shot their 7.62x51 and it is good stuff. Accurate, and clean enough.
Hard to find however. Sometimes you can find it on GunBroker. Dealers
however, are out, just like about everything else now days. It is made
by MKE in Turkey, which is a world wide supplier of ammo, artillery shells,
and all sorts of really bad dangerous stuff, which should be banned if
the Dem congress could have it’s way. How about that credit card bill
just passed and signed by Dumbo ears. Part of that included concealed
carry in national parks. The republicans jammed that in as part of the
bill. The Brady Foundation is splitting a gut over that. Nothing like the
sound of gnashing of teeth from the left.
Read a test conducted by the company who is importing it for the various wholesalers. (Can’t remember if it was American Tactical Imports or not) Supposed to be GTG and within spec’s for M855/SS109. If this turns out to be true, then depending on the pricing, it will be the next PRVI. Though for $.050 per round, I think I’ll look else where.
The article I read also said that there is supposed to be alot of the 5.56mm and 308 inbound, with regular shipments planned.
Sorry I don’t have the link. If I remember correctly, it was about a month ago I read it.
