The forgings shouldn’t have much to do with anything, especially if they are thrown on CNC machines and churned out as quickly as possible.

Prepare, are you Chris VanCleave and just telling us about where you get your forgings? Or are you someone else telling us this is what you got as a reply to some type of question you asked?

I don’t understand the reason for posting this. Everybody who machines receivers does this. Next time try posting something worth reading.

I agree. No offense to the guy for posting this… but why is this even a question to the Manufacturer?

A lot people think that these different brand AR companies make their own lower receivers. Many of the big name brands get their forgings from the same places as the lesser thought of brands. The reality is they’re pretty much the same forged 7075 hard coat anodized receiver with the exception of the machining of the trigger well and trigger pin holes.

Except what matters most is the precision etc… used in finishing the forgings.

Yeah, most receivers are probably the “same” in the sense that they might be equally hard to break. No, they’re not the same in the sense that trigger/hammer pins might walk, you might break buffer retainer pins, and it might be impossible to fit to half your uppers. That final machine work and the brand’s culling process make all the difference.

The difference between companies is in machining.

The forgings are basically raw material that resembles a receiver.

The reality is that final machining is what separates a high quality lower from a not so high quality lower, not the chunk of aluminum from the forger.

Except different companies hold different standards when it comes to:

Tooling replacement.

Measurement range (+/-) variances.

Either of which can have an effect on the outcome in the form of tolerance stacking, appearance, and fitment.

Lol, many machine shops have displays in the office area of beautiful, intricately machined parts. And alot of them are scrap that couldn’t be shipped because some critical dimension was a few thou out of tolerance. Sure are pretty, though.
