I have a chance to buy a set of used troy MRF M 9 rails from my buddy for a decent price. I was going to buy them and put them on my Noveske but I wanted to hear what the experts say before I cut my delta ring. Any feedback about said rails would be appreciated.
I just did it. Good rail for the price. Solid. And Troy has good CS. The only downside to it is that it is heavier than some of the more expensive alternatives.
I’ve heard that their rails aren’t always in spec. and that they are alittle heavier than the others. I just want to make sure this rail can take some abuse.
I only recently added the MRF on my Middie. I can’t give you first hand experience as far as longevity, and durability. I did verify that there is a lifetime warranty on this product. I asked around for opinions and was convinced enough that this is a solid piece, or I wouldn’t have bought it myself. As far as ‘out of spec’, in what ways? The rail locks up solid enough, for a 2- piece system.
I’ve got one on my standard weight middy upper. it seems very sturdy and I like the rear QD socket but it doesn’t have rotation limiters. for the price and durability, I put up with it. some have mentioned that it’s heavy and I do think it’s heavier than some other expensive rails but again, for the price…
I’ll probably move it over to my new light weight middy upper where it’ll do just fine. I’ll be replacing it with an 11" Vtac Extreme after I chop the FSB. maybe I’ll shorten the barrel to 14.5" at the same time, to knock off a couple more ounces at the end of the barrel. it all adds up…
I have an MRF that came installed on my S&W M&P, and it is rock solid. Sure it is a little heavy, but that adds to the ruggedness of the unit. I would buy another one no sweat.
