I have searched quite a bit, but don’t find much about the MRF - mostly for sale threads.
It looks like a good piece of gear, and I am interested in it, since it is one of the few that accomodates an FSP and doesn’t require removal of the handgaurd cap.
The Troy MRF is a solid handguard - I liked mine but also found it a bit heavy. A few years ago, the Troy MRF was really the only show in town if you wanted a freefloat rail but didn’t want to remove the FSB. Now it faces competition from the Daniel Defense Omega, which is a lighter freefloat rail that does not require you to remove the FSB or delta ring, making it even easier to install. The MRF is still cheaper than the Omega.
Smith and Wesson also uses the Troy MRF on its M&P 15 Tactical.
I have the MRF on my M&P15, and it is rock solid. Zero movement. I also like the heavy, bulky feel that it gives the piece. Quality stuff. I recommend it.
I have a Troy MRF as well, it locks up soild and is pretty light, but not as light as the Daniel Defense Omega. But mine looks blue like yours for some reason:mad:
Not so much Blue, but a VERY flat black. Maybe a wipe down with a good silicone cloth would remedy this…I’ll put it on my shopping list. I’m a ‘function over form’ guy, though. The slight color difference won’t bother me too much.
