Troy fixed M4 front versus Daniel Defense fixed front?

Anyone have experience with both that can comment on sight pictures? Are the ears on the Troh much thicker than the ones on the DD?

I’ve had them both. The quality level seemed similar. Depending on the way the slots are cut on the rail, one will sit flusher with the end. Take a look at pics on the internets. You can see how the crossbolt is placed differently. The DD crossbolt is centered, and the Troy crossbolt is near the distal edge of the sight. I think the Troy was the one that fit my DD RISII 12” flush with the end. Like 99% sure. I ended up using a taller post with it.

I lent them to someone, and did not remember who. They are gone forever.

Based on experience I can only comment on the Troy Fixed M4 Sight. The sight picture is very good; easy to acquire targets, standard thick sight post. The sight is robust; you would have to use considerable force to break any part of it.

I have had both, used both, and sold both at one time or another. I was recently looking for another fixed front sight and ended up with the Troy. The only reason was it was on sale cheaper than the DD. Both work well and as intended, I would buy whichever you can find cheaper.

I also have both. If I need more I get one of the two that is the cheapest.

Can’t comment on the two listed but I have Scalarworks. Awesome in every way. If you’re looking for cheap, they won’t be for you. I can’t say enough good things about Scalarworks.

This is likely to be my next set.

I am absolutely sure the Scalarworks are amazing sights, but I don’t see the sense of spending an extra $100+ for them over a set of DD/Troy fixed sights.

I like both. I think Troy is under-appreciated and solid merchandise. DD is always great.

I broke a Troy recently. The plate that holds the Troy on the rail is not bi-directional come to find out. I snapped it right in half.

The sight in that picture says LMT.

Sorry, meant an LMT. I guess I have been more tired than I thought. Completely missed the mark on this entire thread.

I absolutely love my fixed Daniels, very strong lock up on the picattany

Damn, and here I was thinking the LMT might be the closest you can get to an FSB top on a rail… :frowning:

The pic you linked shows an LMT sight… not a Troy.

Thanks for the info guys. Went to a shop in the next county that shows DD and Troy sights as in stock only to find out most of their website has no reality base.

Ended up back in town and picked up another MBUS Pro which I got to shoot some today with the fsp on the narrow setting(my other is a square post) so not sure if I will keep it there or flip it to wide.

Thanks. We got it covered.

Looking at where the break is, and the design of the plate thingie, I think I took it off and spun the plate upside down. The part that is supposed to press against the rail was pressing against the sight, so it is probably operator error. I contacted LMT and they want me to send the sight back to them for some reason.

+1 I’m not sure the point of diminishing return isn’t the DD fixed for durability/weight/price

Glad this came up. I had my LMT rear sight clamp rolled over too, but luckily with no break.

I had caught that with an M&P 15 copy once, but did not notice it was that much of a copy of the LMT.

The Daniel defense is rock solid and still quite light. I haven’t used the Troy but I’ve run the DD a lot and never had an issue. However I don’t think you could go wrong either way.
