Hey guys Im selling a 870 right now and am going to use the money to buy a drop in rail for my midlength. Im looking at the Troy set. Are their any others in its price range that I should look into? I would love a KAC set, I believe thats what our M16A4s we had in the Army sported, but they are a bit pricey.

I just got a set of those from BCM. They are solid well made rails.
While they are not free float they do the job that I need them to do.
You can also get drop in YHM and MI rails for a middy for a little less and they will work just as good.
Go to the BCM website and you can look them over and price them.
The Troy rails were about ten bucks more but to me they are better quality than the othe two I mentioned.

Get the Troy MRF series for midlength. It IS free float and also does not require removal of FSA to install. Excellent rail. Of course, you should also look at the Daniel Defense Omega series. For those, they ARE free float and do not require any mods to weapon at all. Check what Grant at G&R Tactical has. He carries Troy rails.

How hard is it to install the MRF rail? What do I do about the front handguard mounting thingy?
MRF-M rails are easy. I’ve put several MRF floating rails on rifles and all you have to do is cut the delta ring off the upper receiver. Simply put you can mask off your upper and barrel/gas tube and make two cuts on 3 and 9 o’clock sides of it and it’ll fall off then. Your handguard cap will have to be trimmed back a little bit which is easily accomplished with a set of tin snips. Then, put the top half on, clamp ring, tighten, and add the lower rail. Put 1 set screw into that (it’s silver) and attach your goodies. Considering a middy has the FSB out further I’d definitely use a floating rail system. The further out there is weight—anything, the warmer the barrel gets the more it’ll move. I always float my barrels.

Get the Troy drop in if you are uncomfortable installing the others.
It’s really not that hard but you do need a Dremel and a cutting wheel.

Im not to worried about the rails affecting accuracy. The KAC rails werent free float on my M16A4s and they were plenty accurate for me.
I understand that. I installed a set of MI hand guards on my 11.5 and cur the delta ring off. Couple years later I decided I wanted to return it to original. I had to take it all down to replace the delta ring and spring. Plus I used blue locktite on the screws for the MI. I ended up using an easy out to get the screws out. I used a butane torch trying to heat those screws. 
If you want no gunsmithing and be able to return rifle to original config later but still have a freefloat rail, then the Daniel Defense Omega series is what you want.
