Trijicon Tripower Queston

I have a Beretta 92 SB Compact 9 mm pistol I am trying to get rid of. I was offered a used trijocon tripower with a mount. Do yall this this is a fair trade?

thanks

Depending on the condition, I would think so. Trijicon products are fun to toy around with.

I’ve never messed with one because they have not gotten great reviews overall. As I understand it there is an old and a new version. They no longer have the minilightstick capability, and the tritium was dimmed substantially so that it would be more NV friendly. They are supposed to be bad on battery life. The cover for the FO ring is needed because at night the FO is visible from the outside due to the battery illumination.
If you search for it you should be able to see several threads on it. I was really wanting the scope to be all that it was claimed to be, but after it came out at best the general reaction was lukewarm.

ETA: Here’s a review thread that is positive on the sight. If you can live with the drawbacks it may be worth it.

Edit.

Of those, I’d go with the TA33 and forget the T-1, but if you do want to go dual optic, then the TA11 is probably going to serve you best.

I actually just purchased the Tripower for my 6920 this morning. I haven’t had it to the range yet (waiting on a riser and BUIS), so I can’t comment on it as far as that goes, but I do have some observations out of the box. A lot of people complain about the dim tritium, but it’s not a concern for me, I have no plans on shooting it in complete darkness, and if I had to (self or home-defense) the battery would help me there. The FO is plenty bright in the day time, except for standing in the shade and shooting into the light, again, battery. I’ve also heard some speak of it’s visibility by the bad guy with NVG, as the FO element/ tritium tube combo is visible from their end, but again, not a concern for me, but should be a factor to the LEO or military consumer. It will serve mostly as a fun/range gun optic, so for MY purposes, it fits the bill perfectly. That doesn’t mean it’s for everyone, and there are certainly other offerings. On the construction side, it’s built like the proverbial brick S@#$ house. Very tough and rugged. It’s not Mercedes Benz, BMW or Lexus fit and finish, as it has minor tool marks here and there, but it doesn’t pretend to be something it’s not. Atleast as far as I can tell, it’s built to do something with the “I don’t have to look good to do my job” philosophy in mind.

What if I’m in the dark and the battery dies?? I routinely fire on an outdoor range, and don’t see myself using the battery function during day to day use, so it would be fine I’d guess, but just in case, I’ve always been in the habit of replacing batteries often anyway, regardless of use.

Not taking anything away from the Tripower, but I once did something similar, and I’ve always regretted parting with the 92FC. You might want to re-think this, as the Compact is just about as good as the Beretta 92 series gets – plus, they were Italian-made, and a very different animal than their domestic (US) cousins. Are sure that you really have no further use for this pistol?
