Trijicon RMR

I recently got a Trijicon RMR 3 MOA red dot sight (LED Model RM01) to put on my FLIR T-50 Thermal thinking it would work well for fast short distance target acquisition while roaming around on our property to and from our hunting stands.

The RMR Red Dot works much better than I had anticipated!

I have a 720nm IR Filter on the objective lens of a ITT Pinnacle PVS-14 hanging over my left eye off my helmet and can see the NV environment real well.

Now, with the RMR, with my right eye I can simultaneously see a nice red dot that looks like a visible laser but isn’t! Makes for a really great situational awareness with the NV and using my dark adapted eye to the RMR Red Dot!

Looking through the RMR with the PVS-14 with the 720nm IR filter on I cannot see the dot at all, but taking the filter off I get a good blooming green dot that blooms about the same as my 0.7mW IR laser does out of a DBAL-D2 without the IR Illuminator on. In other words, it is not too good through the PVS-14 NV as it blooms a little too much.

But using it with my dark adapted eye it works real good and real fast.

Pretty neat, I was not expecting this red dot to be able to be used at night at all…

Screw the RMR, tell us more about the FLIR (how you like it, cost, etc).

I LIKE IT!

It cost $10K:eek:

I got it from a site sponsor: Tactical Night Vision Company:

http://www.tnvc.com/shop/flir-advanced-combat-thermosight-t50/

It is worth every $0.01

What can I say?

It is all FLIR, made of lightweight magnesium, has a 320X240 uncooled microbolometer, it has QD clip-on attachment, has an intergral Truijicon RMR mount built in, has five display brightness settings, has B/W polarity, has 1X, 2X, & 4X internal digital magnifications, has four adjustable internal reticules allowing you to use it as a stand-alone Thermal Scope (reticules stay put when you turn it off so right there again when you turn it on), has no Vis or IR laser (30mW removed as per FDA regs for civvies like me), is specifically designed to interface with a Truijicon ACOG 4X32mm optic, it outputs 30Hz NTSC video, it is rated for .50 Browning M2 use.

Here are some pics of the FLIR T-50:

Man that’s a HOT MESS!

Thanks for the info.

WOW talk about HSLD!! well done

So far I have used it by itself with the internal reticules, with an Eotech 552, a Leopold VX-R 1-4X-20mm FireDot Pig Plex scope, Leopold VX-R 3X9X-50mm and a ACOG 4X32mm LED.

Works outstanding with all of the above optics as long as you do not go above 4X, above 4X it starts to get pixelated.

The ACOG is a very nice matchup:

Nothing between me and 250 yards has a chance.

Hogs @ 175 yards:

View through Eotech with one of the internal reticules turned on:

The FLIR T-50 Thermal with handloaded Barnes 70 grain TSX slaps baby deer carnivores down like Thor’s Hammer!

This is the exit wound @ 190 yards:

FUR DOWN :dance3:

That is a sick setup that you have

Talk about owning the night… :dirol:

Looks like a damn video game. Thats is some sssiiiicccckkk shit right there.

The kewl thing about the FLIR thermal is it works 24/7 all day and all night, same image during the day, sun up, sun down, midnight, etc.

Only takes 1.5 sec to turn on and does an instant start-up NUC IR focal plane adjustment, so ready to go on a moments notice.

The temperature differential range is 85F for the 256 different shades of gray pixels from black to white which are able to measure a 1F difference in the total field of view temperature gradient.

And it does have a nice FOV too…

Doe Deer @ 250 yards:

Wish I had to money to throw at one of those! Maybe in a few years haha

Welp, that is pretty much the most awesome filled thing I’ve seen on the internet all day. Impressive

That’s a very impressive piece of equipment. Love it!

Here is another short video of a hog I killed with the FLIR Thermal.

Hit him in the lungs and he rolled, found him 200 yards back in the woods exanguinated out:

Jesus H. Christ that is wicked

I got RMR01 model to make sure that it was ON all the time and I did not have to mess with any adjustments, ready to use at any time.

The adjustable RMR06 model is nice but did not want any adjustments.

Here is another short video of a big boar I killed:

Hmmm, the Swiss Military SIG-500 is using a new S-B Thermal Scope with an Eotech Holosight on top for their latest ā€œInfanterist der Zukunftā€ (future infantryman) Land Warrior Program…

Here is an article the Swiss Military is working on to increase Thermal Camo for foot soldiers:

Some pretty amazing thermal camo technology;

I like how the Thermal Camo Clothing protects you from biting insects too as they no longer can see your IR signature!

My old SIG 556 with the FLIR T-50 and Trijicon ACOG is just a bastardized version of the real Swiss SIG 550, but it damn sure slays the hogs and coyotes left and right at will all day and night, that is for sure!
