I have owned several Trijicon products going back several years (mostly tritium sights) and I never once needed to use their customer service mainly because they make such a great product. Imagine my surprise when my relatively new TA33R-8 ACOG showed an issue that would require the scope to be returned for service.
I was installing a lens cover when I noticed that the eye piece was loose enough to rotate it with just my thumb and forefinger. I had already shot the rifle that this optic was installed on several times - including a 3 day course. I just did not notice it until I was installing the lens cover. It had backed off far enough that I was able to see the orange o-ring that seals the eye piece.
Well I called Trijicon on the morning of November 17th. I was informed that they probably just missed a manufacturing step (application of thread locker) and that they would issue a UPS call tag for me. The UPS driver came to my place on November 18th and I was away. I left the box for him on the 19th. So the ACOG was picked up on the 19th for service.
Fast forward to last night. I found the neatly repaired optic sitting on my door step. Trijicon had it back to me in an amazing 12 days including transit! I am absolutely thrilled with this level of service. Trijicon was courteous on the phone, apologetic for the inconvenience, extremely prompt with the repair, and they make a great product. What more can you ask!?!?
Letters from Earth has done nothing but reinforce my love for Trijicon, in all it’s flavours.
I’m looking for a bolt gun good enough to justify an Accupoint purchase.
I’m also trying to figure out which ACOG I want…I’m digging the donut reticle very, very much.
Hint: LFE, which ACOG should I get? I want to get an ACOG/TRD combo. I like the reticle on the NSN-line, but I don’t know if the speed will be there. Then again, if I’ve got the TRD, speed with the ACOG shouldn’t be an issue of concern.
I ran a MRD atop an NSN for almost two years and I never cottoned up to it. I also had (briefly) a TA33 3X30 that I liked a good bit but I sold that to get a smoking deal on a TA31F AND a TA47-2. I do think that both of my ACOGs are the kats-ass (cuz they’re MINE :p)!
Im very surprised at how good the TA47 2X20 is to tell the truth. I have mine in a LaRue mount and from zero to 300m Im pretty quick. BAC has always been a problem for me to run but NOT with the 47. I dont feel like I have given up anything to get magnification but then again Im not currently being shot at so…
I just got the TA31F so Im still getting used to it. As of now its fair to say that I like it better then the NSN by a large margin, though. I’ll keep you posted.
Now, IF I were to get another ACOG it would most likely be a TA44 1.5X16 type. It has good ER and its FOV is something like 40ft! Even though its “only” .5 on the lightspeed scale its still usable for threat ID (at limited distances of course) and may offer some advantages to the user over other optic types (Let me get in somemore time with my buds 44 and I will get back with you on that).
