Trijicon ACOG and Astigmatism

I’m looking to get a scope for JP 18 inch upper I’ve got on order for 3-gun shooting. I was at Jensen’s today and I looked thru a ACOG TA11F, with a red chevron. I think I’m either going to get a donut or a horseshoe, but all they had was ^. It as nice and bright, but I had a real problem with the ^ blooming on me. I have a touch of astigmatism and I thought this might be causing the problem, or making it worse? One thing I didn’t think to do till I was driving home was to take it outside.

With astigmatism you’re more prone to issues with illuminated scopes, but was using it inside the worst scenario? Can I cover the fiber optic and reduce the reticle brightness so it doesn’t bloom on me?

I was so surprised that I had issues with it that I didn’t take the time to experiment.

Jensen’s by the way has UBR, PRS and I think CTRs in stock, and PRVI M193 for $83/200, and they were unloading another skid of ammo. They do limit the amount of ammo you can buy to 5 boxes the sign said.

Some people find that light blooms can be overcome with electrical tape covering the fiber optic.

Thanks! I must have misspelled astigmatism in the search box?!

It’s one major criticism of the COGs- from the box they are too bright when it is light, and too dim when you work indoors.

Tape, innertube and paint will keep the brightness at a reasonable level, but I really prefer that crosshair reticles, for a few reasons, one of which is the brightness.
