Trigger Suggestions?

Well, I have a lower that has everything installed and ready to go, an upper picked out, sights, optics, and sling.

All I need is the trigger.

Here’s what I want (in order of importance):

  • Reliable and ruggedly made
  • Single-stage
  • Non-adjustable
  • Smooth/light/crisp, suitable for carbine classes
  • Compatible with KNS anti-rotation pins
  • Can be installed without much hand-fitting (meaning if a tool is needed that isn’t on a Leatherman, that’s a major minus)

Any suggestions? The highest-ranking one I’ve found is the Rainier/ Bill Springfield trigger, but of course they’ve been out of stock for a month or so.

When in doubt… goto the “source”

Glad to help… but you could have done this yourself

D’oh. Well, I like to keep my options open, so the question stays open as well.

You’re putting a BS trigger in the reliable and rugged category? I think that needs to be revisited. Several of us have had bad results with his modified triggers.

How about a Wilson TTU for a single stage?

Why are you limiting your options by only looking at a single stage?

Why does it have to be compatible w. KNS pins that serve a S/A gun/trigger no use besides appearance?

If this gun is going to ever be used for SHTF or Duty use than I would strongly advise against going w. a reworked BS g.i. trigger.

I would look at a 2 stage:

SSA…this is the best combat/duty trigger made currently imho…non adjust as well.
KAC
LMT

Those are three of the most reliable triggers on planet earth…very smooth, predictable, and clean breaking triggers. Perfect for any serious use AR imho.

Geissele makes the best triggers available, bar none. Either the SSA or the S3G (depending on 2-stage or 1-stage) will work for you better than anything else on the market.

I like single-stage triggers, what can I say? And, a friend of mine’s backup Noveske has a Springfield trigger in it, and I absolutely loved it.

Of course, being a new member, I haven’t scratched the surface regarding all the information posted on this site, but I came across the thread talking about the new series of Geissele triggers coming out. My M16A4gery has a Geissele SSA in it, but of course it’s a two-stage, and though it’s a fantastic piece of work, it’s not quite my cup o’ tea. Their new 3Gun model, despite the fantastically high price (but justified after having owned the SSA) looks like it might just fit the bill (or 2-3 bills rimshot).

I think I’ll ditch the KNS pins. I’ve no fears about the quality of the lower (it’s a Mega), nor the new #1-spot trigger, so they seem unnecessary… truth be told, never even really liked the look of 'em. 'Course, I’ve got an Accu-Wedge in my box-o-parts, too.

Another vote for Geiselle. Have the SSA great tigger…

Geiselle or Timney. With the Timney the only problem I’ve ever had was the allen screws that "snug up the trigger pack caome loose after several hundred rounds. This can be fixed with a little lock-tite though.

You can’t go wrong with a Geissele.

What they said.

Reading comprehension…

The Wilson TTU is an excellent single stage trigger.

I have the SSA and like it for a 2-stage. 1st stage is on roller bearings, and second breaks like a “carrot snapping”. I would think the S3G would be your best bet for a combat capable single stage trigger.

I also have a Timney and I do like it, but it’s more of a gaming trigger, as I don’t totally trust the allen screws in it to be GTG under hard use. It’s also a little creepy for the price, but worlds better than a stock FCG in terms of feel.

I second the Wilson TTU. Except I have the two stage trigger in mine. I am very happy with it, and have about 500 rounds shot with it.

Search function doesn’t want to work for me (just sends me to a blank page). What’s wrong with the Bill Springfield trigger?

The mix feedback from end users of the Bill Springfield jobs…some have reported a nice clean trigger while others have reported horrible failures. That by definition is an unreliable trigger no matter how nice it performs when functioning right.

Geissele SSA +1

Cant go wrong with either Timmney or Geissele. it will all depend on your intended use. I prefer the Geissele due to the fact that I like a trigger that is the closest to my duty rifle.
