Trigger Pin Problem ...

I bought a new S&W M&P 15T about a month and a half ago. I bought a RRA NM 2 stage trigger for it and installed it immediately. I’ve fired about 1,200 rounds through it without any function problems. The only problem it seems to have is that after extended fire, the trigger pin will end up protruding out the left side of the receiver about 3/8". I can push it back in with my fingernail. I’m using the pins that came with the RRA trigger set and the trigger is functioning fine. Any ideas on how I should correct this? Thanks for your help.

You didn’t cut one of the legs of the hammer spring off did you? If so, you need to make sure the side with the longer leg engages the groove in the trigger pin.

Snake is right. One of the legs of the hammer spring is what holds the trigger pin in. It only has the groove on one side of the pin. It’s easy to mistakenly get one side of the hammer spring under the trigger pin instead of on top of it. When it occurs it’ll cause the trigger pin to walk, as yours does.

Thanks for the replies. I believe I did have both legs on top of the trigger pin when I originally installed it, but I wanted to start shooting it pretty quickly. I’ll check that tonight. I should be able to visually check that from the top.

Well, that was it. I had one leg under the pin and that was the side that had the groove in it. I’m glad I had to take the hammer out because I found an anvil from a primer wedged between it and the lower. Thanks for the help.
