Before i start i want to say that I’ve searched and found some topics related to my post but they were pretty old, so there may be more products out now.
I’ve got a colt 6920 magpul edition with a standard trigger guard. It really annoys me how the ears of the receiver rub my finger/knuckle while I hold it. I may buy a gapper or a nice trigger guard. Is there any winter trigger guards that fill the gap yet protrude at or past the ears of the receiver to eliminate the annoying rubbing I’m experiencing?
There are a few grips out there that have a tab that covers this gap. For sure BCM and Daniel Defense; possibly a few more.
The aluminum trigger guards from Magpul work most of the time. My noveske lowers worked and the guard protruded down below. My UCWRG don’t though, but it is only thousands of an inch that it exposes the ears. The one Spikes lower I had was really bad and it protruded down a bunch past the aluminum trigger guard.
I’m thinking about trying one of these from Rainier Arms just for the reason the OP mentions.

The BCM Gunfighter Grips solves this for me. The root of the problem is that many lowers have the roll pin hole reamed too high in the receiver. It’s annoying as hell. A good lower will have the OEM trigger guard flush.
The Magpul enhanced (aluminum) trigger guard has become a staple on all my builds.
This ^^^
I Like it, looks pretty cool too… Ofcourse, Looking COOL is what I’m all about, See>>>> ![]()
Thanks Steve, for real, I want to try this one too.
Peace Jeff
Nothing works as well as an Ergo Gapper, but sometimes the Magpul triggerguards come close enough.
The BCM grips solve the gap problem, but they feel funky in my hand and the hard corner on the gapper part of the grip starts to hurt after a bunch of handling.
So far I had a spike’s bullet trigger guard on a Spike’s lower that worked well. Also had the magpul polymer trigger guard on my Daniel Defense. I still had rubbing issues with it. The Rainier posted above looks good. I’d buy the spike’s again if it lacked their logo.
All my rifles get the Magpul aluminum trigger guard.
I have KAC trigger guards and my lowers. They fill the gap and are comfortable. Just another option…
I’m curious - what makes you prefer the aluminum version over the plastic MOE trigger guard? I bought a couple of the aluminum version and installed one to date, but when my BCMs came with the MOE installed, I decided they seemed good enough and were certainly cheaper. In the unlikely situation where one breaks, a replacement is cheap. Thanks,
Dave
I just prefer the aluminum I guess.
Same here. I do have some plastic trigger guards & really, there doesn’t seem to be a significant difference between the two. Plastic just seems cheap to me & the less of it on my guns, the better. Personal preference.
Just my 2 cents but I bought a magpul edition 6920 a couple years ago and the first change I made was this trigger guard from Wilson for $20 - it has been just fine on my finger. Be absolutely certain the receiver ears are supported and proceed slowly.

But pmags are ok?
I use both. I’m not a big fan of plastic sights either. It’s just personal preference. Is that ok?
I run the magpul enhanced aluminum trigger guards on most of my ARs, the one that doesn’t currently rock it is a Bushmaster that I have since returned to mostly stock configuration for the hell of it. Having used both the plastic end metal guards, and having a plastic guard that looks like it was set afire in a parts box I have more faith in metal, that and the one trigger guard I ever had issue with was a plastic magpul one, so there is that as well. Maybe I am just being over cautious, but it is basically $20 piece of mind and that is good enough for me and more comfortable.
As far as being okay with the plastic mags and not plastic trigger guards, the mags are not semi permanently attached to me gun and requires more than a screw driver to remove. So there is that as well. That said, pick the one that you fine more appealing and rock on, chances are both will serve most more than well enough.
I’m going to try the B5 trigger guard on my current build. Not sure about the gap though,as it’s designed to pivot like the standard guard.
