Does anyone have any idea what kind of chest rig Travis is wearing on those videos? The great thing about it, is that on his belt he has Raven Concealment holster and the chest rig does not cover it. Most of the chest rigs interfere with the belt holster. I know that the belt he is wearing is made by Viking Tactics.
Most PC’s will ride high enough that you can run a belt mounted holster. YOu have issues when you are running a larger armor setup such as a CIRAS or the like. I’ve moved away from drop legs as much as I can so I can stay consistent with where my pistol rides. I run a SKD PIG and a HSGI padded belt with a Safariland holster mounted on a standard UBL and still have plenty of room to access my Glock. The key is keeping your handgun side as slick as possible.
FWIW I don’t have a clue what PC he’s running as I have not seen the video.
to mirror what SWATcop556 said, I run the Mayflower APC and have no issues with a belt mounted RCS holster. I keep my handgun side slick with the exception of a CAT, but that is mounted close to the front flap.
BTW, i don’t have any clue what chest rig that TH is wearing either, sorry.
Heres the carrier. I called it quits after a couple minutes of searching. Defining characteristics Ive noticed: slick cummerbunds, (possibly modified), RBAV-style pull tab on the base of the front MOLLE panel, angled strips of webbing on the front of the shoulders. I see no hook material and no RBAV-style flap covering the quick-release loop, though I could just be missing it due to resolution.
Anyhow. If all youre concerned about is finding a carrier that will allow for the use of belt-mounted gear, as other have said, plenty carriers out there do.
I agree. Some of the prices are high. But that company is supposed to be one of the best. The more expensive models have built in armor. There is also a model for $170, which is very reasonable.
It sucks that some people have to decide between spending money on that third, fourth or fifth spare pistol or new rifle and buying equipment to stop their insides from being perforated.
Tyr is making some really nice kit. Got to play with Travis’ PICO last month and was impressed with the construction and fit. The fact is also has anti-microbial fabrics so it doesn’t smell like swampass is a nice touch.
After considering the PIG, Mayflower APC and several others I chose the Tyr Tactical PICO earlier this year. I also considered the Blue Force LMAC but gave up on waiting for it to be released.
I did a class last year with one of the Tyr guys and got a first hand look at the Tyr LWPC. After some emails back and forth and a phone call I decided on the PICO and have been extremely happy with it. No regrets about getting it.
It comes with soft armor backers, kangaroo mag pouch and cummerbund mag pouches and Molle panels for the external cummerbund. $595 MSRP at the time; 15% military discount for those that qualify.
It is much lighter and more comfortable than the Eagle PC I was using before and also lighter than a friend’s Gen 1 Diamondback FAPC I tried briefly.
