A co-worker is offering me his custom Robar “Tactical Elite” Remington 870 in-trade for my daily BUG (Kahr PM9).
I have an old snubby that I can use as my BUG until I can pick up another PM9.
I don’t really want to give up the Kahr but I know this shotty is worth far more $$$ than the Kahr and I don’t have a shotgun.
It has a ribbed barrel which is not something I have seen on many “tactical” shotguns. I dig how it looks, just don’t know if there are any drawbacks to having the ribbed barrel…
Just wondering what you guys think of this particular shotgun?
Like most, I’m a huge fan of the 870 and I think everyone should own at least one. I’ve never seen the Robar version. The rib is kind of a moot point with GR sights, but I Really dig it. If it was me, I’d make that trade in a heart beat.
Im sooo confused:confused: The biggest issue is that I just got busted by the wife for buying $500 worth of gear during SKD’s end of year sale (Blue Force Gear LMAC + pouches, etc.). It will be a while before I can skim enough $$$ to fund the purchase of another Kahr…
how is this even a question? If you’re not going to do it, put me in contact and I’ll do the trade.
Someone above pointed out the details to the 870…
ETA:, nevermind, it was you. I think you should make the trade unless there’s something wrong with that shotgun. If your friend had a lick of common sense, he’d sell that shotgun and buy a Kahr, extra mags, and ammo…and maybe even better sights.
Heck, that shotgun is so nice, I’d just open-carry it until I got a new Kahr.
If you don’t make the trade, you’ll talk about the “deal” you missed for years and years… “Man, one time this guy wanted to trade me a custom Robar 870 for a plastic Kahr I had and I didn’t do it. I can’t believe I was that stupid!!”
Wow…I don’t see $1500 worth of upgrades on that shotgun. That price does not include the shotgun.
A lot of those items listed are fluff…they even listed cutting the barrel off twice. (How many does do you have to cut it before you get it right?)
Test fire…
Install sling swivel…
Install large safety button…
Install high visibility follower…
Install magazine tube extension…
Smooth action…
Install side saddle…
These are all Saturday afternoon projects for a new shotgun owner.
I would never pay their asking price for a shotgun, but I believe the more detailed (and expensive) work consists of the barrel work, the NP3 & Roguard finish, the ghostring sights, and the stock work.
I only paid $350 for the Kahr so i think I did okay on this one.
