I have four Colt 6920’s.
My brother recently purchased a FN SCAR 16. I fired it and I really liked it.
I am debating getting rid of my 6920’s and getting 2 FN SCARs to replace them.
Please respond with your opinions. For or against and why.

Are these all safe queens?
I think having two LE6920s and one SCAR is actually a good idea…
keep in mind where are you going to get spare parts for the SCAR. I haven’t seen any anywhere.
2 of them are safe queens. They were purchased as a primary and secondary for my wife. Who refuses to shoot them. The other 2 are my primary and secondary.
They are/will be used a training/plinking/HD weapons.
I have no .mil or LEO affiliation.
As an aside, I would like to get a 7.62 platform as well to replace my old M1A and I am looking very hard at the SCAR 17 (if it is ever released) so that I have a common platform/parts/manual of arms.
As to the spare parts question, that is why I was leaning towards getting 2 of the SCARS so that one could be canniblized if needed. And you can get some SCAR parts occasionally, but they are expensive. (Although so are Colt parts)
I don’t get to train as much as I would like so the simpler that I can keep things the better, in my opinion.
Why do you suggest 2 and 1?

One primary AR, one backup AR - and then ditch the two queens and buy the SCAR.
That’s what I’d do. You still have all of your bases covered but can mess around with something different too.

This. If you end up liking the SCAR most you can ditch the rest of the AR’s later. Though I wouldn’t dump my primary weapon without first having used what I’m replacing it with.
That said, the SCAR is an awesome weapon and I’m sure you’ll be happy with it.
I agree with The_Katar. Get rid of two 6920’s and get a SCAR if you really like the platform that much. The two 6920’s that you keep can be adapted over time if your usage changes for them in the future.
All that said, I’m still not convinced that the SCAR does anything that traditional AR’s don’t already do, and in some cases do better.
With the piston benefit , ambi controls, caliber upgrades, quick barrel swaps already AR features… I don’t see it as the end all be all.

Keep two Colts and buy two FNs. One is none, two is one.

I don’t understand this at all. Why would you have 2 exact firearms?
If anything, I’d rather have, for example, a rifle and parts for it, then an SBR or otherwise in the same platform and with parts.
We need to get you set up with ONE good firearm dude - we can worry about a spare later! 
This is my philosophy as well. My father taught me many moons ago always have two of each firearm. All things can and will fail…have a back up.
Personally, I don’t see the functional purpose of anything other than an M4 if caliber is restricted to 5.56. The logistical advantages of the SCAR is of such minor concern for anything other than large-scale use that it is pretty much irrelevant (to me).
I would vote for keeping 2 6920s and investing the money from the others into optics, ammo, targetry and training opportunities.
If I was issued a SCAR or this was to be my first rifle my opinon would be different.
I second this opinion. Training and ammo is where it really is at. Unless one were a pure collector. I am guilty of one safe queen out of six AR’s. A 6920 NIB. I bought it cheap and the currently the market is down so I see no reason to sell at this moment. If prices jumped again I would probably let it go.
I would sell two of the 6920s. I have one 6920 and one 6940 and the 6920 sees no action since the 6940 does most of the work with my new FN Fs2000.
I am picking up the HK MR556 and HK MR762 later this year so I will have one of each. I wouldnt get a SCAR. It offers me nothing over the HK MR556, HK MR762, Colt 6940, and FN Fs2000.
I prefer the Colt 6940 and may get rid of my 6920 for another 6940 or Elcan Specter DR.

Keep two ARs and get a SCAR…
I wouldn’t get rid of two 6920’s for another 5.56 thrower that doesn’t really have any clear advantages over an AR and is difficult to find parts for. I might if it was for the SCAR 17. I would wait for the SCAR 17 to come out then decide what you want to do.
